Missing Cat - Happy Ending
So my lovely boy Harry went missing on Wednesday. I guess I noticed about 4pm he hadn't been home for a while which wasn't like him. His usual pattern it that he goes out but is usually back in within a couple of hours.
Obviously i was starting to get worried but was still confident i would see him soon. By 8 frantic etc etc. Got some posters made up and my friend dropped them off on his way home. We did several walk of the streets till about 3am no sign of him. Next morning put posters up went to the local vet (which is very close) and they had an email turns out he was in some guys alcove but very scared. The vet contacted the guy but he was gone this morning - although he did eat some food and drink water. Got more posters and every couple of hours walked all the blocks and put posters up several of my friends helped. Many people were genuinely helpful and promised to look out for him so I pretty much had eyes on every street. I was hoping he was hiding somewhere to keep out of the sun as it was hot here in Brighton. At 7.30 I got a call from a guy who had seen my poster they had found him under some bushes! Ran down and got him home safely!!! Later on I went out to take the posters down and have to say was surprised by how many people stopped and asked me if he had been found and they were genuinely delighted by the happy outcome. The community spirit was absolutely heartwarming Just wanted to share this story.

Yes am very relieved to have him back but am very nervous about letting him out again so far have kept him in and he seems ok with that but am guessing by tomorrow morning the cabin fever will have set in.

Your thread brought tears to my eyes. It is so nice to see a happy ending. I am so pleased your wee one is home safe and sound again. My neighbours cat went missing about 3 months ago now. She has been in our back garden twice since then but won't come to me. By the time I got her mum and dad over the road she had disappeared. Most of the houses in our street are now holiday homes or have new people living in them. I genuinely believe one of these houses have taken her and won't let her out. She is well loved and very well looked after so in no way looks like a stray. Horrible people. The family are all devastated.

Glad to hear you've got Harry back safe and sound.
![]() I know what it's like when they go missing - Izzy disappeared for 4 weeks during March/April and didn't show any interest in going out for about 10 days after she came home. I was so nervous when she did finally go out again and still get a bit paranoid if I don't see her for a couple of hours ! I'll never know exactly what happened but think she must have got trapped somewhere - she's a good hunter but when she came home she was very thin so can't have had much to eat

The neighbours did leaflet local houses and shops. I have genuinely no idea why she never went home although they do now have a new cat so whether she realized that and backed off I have no idea. I was just so pleased to see that she was still alive, the thought that she had been killed or lying injured somewhere was heartbreaking even although she isn't mine. She was used to being out and about and spent a huge amount of time in my sheds/greenhouse/garden.

That's lovely news op, they are a worry aren't they when they 'go off on their jaunts'
mine does this to me every so often, especially when the weather is warm, but I still worry about her too
