The Beautiful South - Don't Marry Her

Heart fm played this a few hours and it got me back into The Beautiful south and this one has always been a personal fav. I grew up listening to them and I always loved their "quirky straight forward attention to detail" lyrics.

Any fans of this song or Beautiful south in general

It's one of those songs were everybody shouts out the "Don't marry her F- me!!"

For me, The F me bit doesn't go at all with the lyrics and the tone of the song. It's much better as "Have me"

Bet they played the clean version.......

Paul Heaton is still touring and recording, there is also a band called The South, which features members from both the Housemartins and Beautiful South (although not Paul) and are currently touring

Excellent band, extremely underrated. They're like another fave band, Squeeze. Wonderful catchy songs that tell a story and both underrated, imo. I saw Squeeze last November with The Beautiful South's Paul Heaton as special guest. They were brilliant, as good as ever!

I only really liked Perfect 10. They certainly had a way with words.

They are an okay group. I have never heard anybody say that they actually don't like them. One of those groups that people like, but don't get over excited about either.

Safe middle of the road option.

My Mum bought the album that the song is on (I know that it has "Blue" in the title but that's all I remember)...I used to sing this song all the time in the car as a child. I do some voluntary work at hospital radio and I found this album on the shelf. There was a note which said "Don't play track 2" which happened to be this song and I wondered why...I then found out that it contained swearing, so I listened to it again. I was so shocked! I used to sing it in the car all the time as a child!

Always hated this song.
"A Little More Time" was one of the very first songs I ever remember listening to though....I must have been 4 at the time.

I remember taking out the sleeve of the album in the shop with my cousin and giggling like idiots at the swearing.

Poor Sandra Bullock though

I always thought Heaton tried to be too clever for his own good with his lyrics.

However 'Prettiest Eyes' and 'Old Red Eyes Is Back' are outstanding.
