Looking for a little advice, I am 100% getting a PS4 at launch but really wanna play GTA 5 in September is it really worth buying a PS3 purely for one game and then trading it in when i buy my PS4

While GTA IV was technically better on the XBox 360 than the PS3, for GTA V, both consoles may be close to equal.

That isn't what they are asking, in addition footage has been shown on PS3, so it's possible that the PS3 has a better quality of game.

If you're desperate to play it then maybe buy a second hand PS3 so when you sell it/trade it you don't lose as much.

Definitely not worth buying a brand new one!

Was just about to post up a similar thread, though I'm not singling out GTAV as a point of interest.

I currently only have a PC and a Wii, and though I'm really interested in the PS4, the PS3 is not without its attractions. Do you still feel it would be worth buying one? Am I right in saying Sony have still committed themselves to supporting it for some time? If so, I'm definitely going to get one.

My advice is, you've held out this long without playing PS3 exclusives, why not wait another 12-18 months and then when GaiKai is up and running you'll be able to get all the best ames in one place, no point in buying a ps3 now

It would be like buying a PSP over a Vita

As for the OP, GTA 5 will end up on next gen, it's just a case of whether its a straight port or they wait a while and do an ultimate edition with the DLC a la GTA complete edition, LA noire complete edition, Red Dead Redemption GOTY edition

Personally i'm getting it at launch on PS3, my advice would be just get a PS4 and wait it out

I'd say yes if you really, really want to play GTA V now.

No sign of confirmation for the PC one yet as that would have been my first choice. I've recently changed to a super slim mainly because of GTA V. If it was been released on PC I would've just traded for store credit ready for the PS4.

It all depends on two things :

1) How strong is your "itch" to play GTA V now and how strongly you feel about it

2) Whether there is going to be a surprise announcement any time soon regarding a PS4 or PC version of GTA V.

Maybe not just for GTA V, but why not try out other console exclusive to such as Red Dead Redemption, Journey, The Last of Us, etc, might as well get your worth out of it instead of just using it for one game.

Not interested in GaiKai, but I won't bother with a PS3 if you don't think it's worth it.

Ta.

There is a good chance there will be a PC version eventually.

There will almost certainly be a PC port. How long you'll have to wait is another question, and whether it will be plagued with the same technical issues that GTA IV was is another question.

Unlike the earlier poster I would not be so confident of a next-gen port.

What it really boils down to is whether GTA5 is worth 150+ to you.

Remember, that with the PS4 you'll need a PSN+ subscription to play online, with that you will get access to the instant games collection, some classic on there for the PS3, so it may well be a good investment to keep once you have your PS4.
