Jessie J. "Hero" her BIG break-out single or NOT?
I've always felt Jessie J. was an underrated artist. She has a great voice that is better then most out right now, but her songs just aren't hitting hard enough to be hits. What do you all think? Will this new "Hero" song from the "Kick-Ass 2" movie soundtrack be her big break?

You're kidding right? I think she's overrated and total crap but one thing she has had for sure is a few hits, that do it like a bruda chav song was huge as well as that other one about money, I forget it's name but it had a rapper in.

You know every single from her last album went at minimum silver in the UK and she sold 2.5 million albums. I agree she is underrated when it comes to adding her in conversations with other pop stars, but she isn't shunned away. This song is the tenth time a song of hers has been included in a movie soundtrack and it's one of two just this year. She's moving on up in the world to becoming part of that big pop star conversation. If you look at the people she has worked with n her new album as opposed to her last one, the difference is clear. She's becoming more of a fixture. Not near where she deserves, but it's coming soon. Watch this space.

I heard this last week. Good song. I'm hoping she gets huge solely for the want of real vocalists to conquer the charts again. She has more vocal ability than any of her contemporaries at the moment. I can't think of a pop star to surface in the last almost decade with the ability she has. Her music lets her down, though. It's sad. Not Rihanna, Katy, Kesha, etc can hold a candle to her when it comes to sheer vocal ability, but that isn't enough to make it these days.
Lately, anytime American stars are asked which UK artists they want to collaborate with, the first answer has been Jessie J. She has Brandy on her new album and Brandy is very picky with her collaborations so that is good for Jessie. |

Vocal ability is more than just the technical stuff though. Jessie J has picked up some truly hideous vocal tics and habits and can't seem to sing a damn melody straight without warbling and hiccuping all over the shop. Witness any of her "Price Tag" performances for evidence! The combination of nasty vocal habits (on EVERY SONG!) and truly shitty music makes her a bad popstar in my opinion. Not as bad as Pixie Lott or the deplorable Rita Ora obviously. But not good.
And anyway OP Domino and Price Tags were bith big here and internationally and put her on the map in places like Australia and Europe and on a smaller scale Canda and the US. But it may give her bigger exposure. |

Her break-out hit was Do It Like a Dude in the UK, and Price Tag everywhere else.

I agree with all of the above. How can anybody refer to Jessie J as underated? Overated more like!
I'm not a fan. She comes across as somebody who thinks she is gods gift to music with a very high opinion of herself. She made me cringe on the voice. I'm baffled by her success to be honest. Whos Laughing Now is the only single of hers I have any love for. That was pretty decent to be fair. |

I agree with this post in it's entirity. I was so looking forward to her debut and it was full of bland tosh and the most irritating vocal ticks in the world wors than when Mariah whistles for no reason at all

Let's hope it fails so this talentless attention seeker can disappear back into obscurity. She really is awful

I actually like Jessie J and think she does have talent, but this 'song' is really a case of same old same old. It could be one of any number of artists around over the past fifteen years and the song will very soon disappear into obscurity where it belongs in my opinion.

Come on now. To deny she has talent is delusion. She may be annoying or whatever to some, but talentless? Get real.
