Off topic: PBS aired a 50th Anniv of the publication of the book, Born Free. Here's a fascinating look of the story behind it and the movie titled, "Elsa's Legacy, The Born Free Story." If you're interested click on watch full video.

Why do you think that nearly all of the Doc Martin FF authors are women?

Rob
Maybe because women find the romance and attraction between DM and LG sadly lacking in the show itself. Many male authors IMO don't or can't write good sexual tension. My mother in law was complaining about the books her son brought her from the library. I told her to ask for only female authors and she's a lot happier.

Is Julian Fellowes related to MC or just an early mentor who suggested he get his ears pinned back early in his career?

MC's cousin Jeremy Brett offered to pay if MC wanted to get his ears pinned. He played Sherlock Holmes in some TV version of that years back. Handsome guy. Julian Fellowes is just a neighbor who runs the show Downton Abbey. Jeremy Brett died at an early age from cancer.

I just watched S6E6. Hazardous Exposure again and am again taken aback by Mummy Dearest after she made her famously cruel speech in Series 2. I am just curious if anyone else found Mummy's question to Louisa, "Does he listen to you?" A bit odd? I didn't really understand it or what it had to do with anything. If anyone has any insight? Is she implying that Martin didn't listen to her or that Christopher didn't listen to her?

Actually I had an insight while I typed my question but I'd like to hear if anyone else had thoughts.

You're right, I think she was just gauging in the "lay of the land", so to speak, to see how much effort she should put into impressing or befriending Louisa. Duh...it only took 4 or 5 viewing to figure that one out. Thank you

Thanks techie....maybe we won't give up on redemption...
I for one don't want to see any redemption of Margaret. She is too horrible and too selfish for too long and has caused far too much pain. Sorry, there are limits.

I always think people can change but I think they have to want to and Mummy Dearest doesn't want to & maybe even couldn't couldn't change. She is selfish and nasty. Incredibly blasι about announcing that his father had died and the funeral was 2 weeks before! Excellent acting but chilling.

I noticed on the www.docmartinonline.net site that coming soon there will be a Portwenn Effect documentary and its phenomenal fans. Now, that's what I want to see! . . . and where do you think they got that title from. . .
