I wonder how ITV would have "not massacred" this format?

Could it be that the British are actually more sophisticated in their tastes than other nations?

Of course the biggest cause of massacre yesterday was the fact it launched at 7.30pm on August 3rd!

You're Face Sounds Familiar therefore records a fairly respectable series average of 3.27m (19.4%) / ~3.4m (20.2%).

Full series ratings excluding +1:

- 29/06 - 3.82m (20.7%)
- 06/07 - 3.02m (19.9%)
- 13/07 - 2.87m (18.4%)
- 20/07 - 2.79m (17.2%)
- 27/07 - 3.40m (18.6%)
- 03/08 - 3.70m (21.5%)

I imagine that it will be recommissioned, can't really see any reason for them not to recommission it. It's Summer filler, and for the final to peak with 4.30m (24.5%) / ~4.5m (25.6%) is enough reason to do it.

Really, with ratings like that in the middle of summer, it's done better than some of ITV's other summer offerings in previous years, so it deserves a second series, but I think they'll have to make some scheduling changes.

So not a great start for I Love My Country I missed it yestaday as I was at a wedding so will catch up on i player. Fair do's for YFSF for rising still nothing special but good none the less.

Are there any other ratings?

You seem to be forgetting that the DW audience seems more inclined to watch timeshifted and via iPlayer than most audiences.

It does need a change of nights.

And 9pm for Strictly results? You have got to be joking - far too late. Especially on a Sunday.

That's a good point about timeshift but I want to see how the show would perform overnight on Sundays at 7 in a fixed schedule.

if 3.27m is "fairly respectable" it's a sign of just how far the once mighty ITV has fallen!!!

Break The Safe grew its audience from last week to a peak of 4.8million, becoming the latest hit National Lottery gameshow format for the nation's favourite channel. BBC One celebrated with the four most watched programmes on television yesterday, with medical drama series Casualty leading the way with an impression 5million peak.

You're comparing peak with average. To think you have to rely on peaks to say that the "nation's favorite channel" won the night.

Why aren't you making any note of I Love My Country's rather under-par rating? if it was ITV you would have mauled it.

Must be time for Eamonn's annual contract negotiations with Sky - stories that he's been offered big money somewhere else always crop up then.Funny how he never accepts those offers.

No, Im comparing peak to peak. Last Saturdays Break the Safe peaked with 4.3million, this weeks peaked with 4.8million. A very good rise given that this week's lead-in was about 1million smaller than last week's.
Hassaan13

The lead-in was smaller, not a good rating though, was it? It's lower than what Your Face Sounds Familiar launched with.

And you can't really do peaks for a show like Break the Safe - it's a game show, there's no particular moment that people would have tuned in for.

Glad to see BTS peak rise hope the average did to I enjoyed the first episode.

next saturday

That Puppet Game Show and I Love My Country will both be around the 2 million mark.

And if they are any higher, the only reason will be that ITV are showing Harry Potter all night.

Really dire scraping the barrel schedules til the X Factor comes back on the 31st

The peak is probably for the lottery draw, and Casualty coming on.

I think it'll probably be the 24th.

He signed a new three year deal with Sky at the end of 2011.

The only positive thing about I Love My Country's rating is that it's already low enough for the bbc to pull it soon. Better to be in this position than have I Love My Country launch with a promising 4m and then plumetting over the eight episodes which bbc1 mightve committed fully too. BBC will pull ILMC from the schedules in 2-3 weeks and replace it with Celebrity Pointless, which will compete in the ratings much better.

Having I Love My Country in the schedule next week also will make That Puppet Game Show seem better to viewers. Viewers will be comparing TPGS to ILMC and saying "you know what, this is better than that I Love My Country Show, its quite good actually".

I will no longer take any of your posts seriously.

On a different note, do you think ITV will hold off any Harry Potter premieres until the live shows of X Factor kick in?

It does seem the problem for both BBC and ITV is that they don't have enough programmes to sustain an evening. Usually just one worthy show per evening, sometimes not even that as last night witnessed.

This seems to be a deliberate act by ITV who seemingly are going for filler+filler+BIG EVENT as their thing.

BBC have just been unable to come up with enough decent programming. But they tried, how they tried!

ITV really need to drop You've Been Framed - ITV2 already aired it from 4pm-6:30pm yesterday. Either air a new show in that slot, or give TV Burp a repeat run, or anything else that will do decently.

Personally, I think ITV should have held off ASFF until the autumn.

It was actually a quick commission to replace the axed My Man Can. They had to fill six hour timeslots somehow.

If you used the "Samuel W post generator" for ITV this is what you'd get for last night...

Awful ratings for BBC1's big new entertainment format bought in from the creator of The Voice. One million lower than the launch of Your Face Sounds Familiar and easily beaten by it last night as well. Also considerably lower than film repeats in the past few weeks. It's a lower launch rating than any ITV weekend entertainment series this year. And Break The Safe only did OK because the competition was easy. Lets see if it still gets 4.8m peaks when it's up against X Factor.

Not a great start for ILMC and I suspect it might be downhill from here.”

I think that will be enough for a recommission. It's a lot better than Superstar, Popstar to Operastar, Lets Get Gold and others particularly in terms of audience share, It'll be a good result for Endemol UK if they can finally get a show like this returning.

As for ILMC, it's interesting how after weeks of people saying BBC1 repeats were "no competition", now when they actually put on an original series it does worse than the repeats.

It also goes against the argument that people are willing to try out new BBC entertainment series. I think there's an older audience always willing to try a lottery quiz show with Nick Knowles or something very homely with John Barrowman. But when you produce something that's not tailored to that audience, the numbers don't come in. Gabby Logan and Frank Skinner in a rowdy panel show don't have that appeal for BBC1.

Break The Safe seems to have done well in its second week - I liked the first round but then completely lost it. It's a huge asset for BBC1 to have those shows and Casualty later on in the night which always guarantee decent ratings (unless against X Factor) even if the earlier schedule is awful. For all people complain that they should change it and take risks, you can see why they don't want to.
