Terrible ratings for the show and especially for a last episode of an iconic show. Of course the bad ratings are richly deserved after the way they treated the characters and viewers.

That is a very good point actually. The producer Brian Gant. Could he mean ratings so far?

Yup, I don't normally bother with Rylan/AJ hosted BOTS but it kept me tuned in longer than usual, so job done on that front. Kudos to the producers for continuing to keep viewers glued throughout the run without introducing any new housemates!

Ratings are higher than I expected. It wasn't really the 'show' though was it? They handpicked a few characters, didn't get any of the major stars from the iconic first season that smashed the ratings and went for duller later season characters. Cook's was just Shameless Mark II. Cassie's was just one long trip and Effy's was effortlessly depressing and somewhat lazy

Does anyone know what University Challenge and Raymond Blanc got on BBC2 in the 8pm hour last night?

Many thanks!

When I finally get round to watching an episode of New Tricks, I bet the only surviving cast member will be Dennis Waterman.

and if he leaves, they'll need a new "feem toon"...

Anyone got BB inc +1??

Provisional schedules from Channel 5:

Monday 18th August
21:00 Big Brother: Live Final (Part 1)
22:00 New Series: Under the Dome
22:55 Big Brother: Live Final (Part 2)
23:30 Big Brother's Bit on the Side

Friday 23rd August
21:00 New Series: Celebrity Big Brother
22:30 New Series: Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side
23:30 New Series: Celebrity Big Brother: Live From the House

The one scenario I didn't really consider- BB split up into two parts but the second part going out very late. Audience share could be extremely high as surely nobody who has been following the series will want to miss the winner announcement. But it's very very late for a Monday night and pushing it a bit really, assuming it's going to stay like this in the final schedules which it may not.

Not surprised to see CBB possibly launching on a Friday this time given how well the last finale did and also how well the second part of this year's Secrets and Lies launch did on that night, so that may well stay the same. Good also to see a slightly longer gap than usual between BB ending and CBB starting.

Superb performance for Corrie last night, especially at this time of year.

I think Davina and Nicky are perfect. I'm not sure who you'd replace them with. Both deal with the stories in a wonderfully sensitive manner. I'd never watched this show before this series, and yes that is down to the Corrie lead-in which I think has possibly exposed it to a wider audience but it's a fantastic show in its own right. One of the best factual formats on TV right now.

I think I might have said at some point that Peter Kay is the only competition from C4 that would worry me for CBB. Could well be a reality this time. Of course, C5 has options and can move the launch to Thursday if necessary,

Also from C4 that week: series 2 of Top Boy due to start Tuesday, August 20 at 9pm. Looks like it will be airing weekly this time. Movie premiere The Imposter is showing Thursday, August 22 at 9pm.

Are you looking out for the Xtra Factor Rewind show, as a portent for TXF starting the following Saturday? No sign of it on the Saturday, Sunday, or indeed on any other day up to the 23rd. This could be a decoy, though: schedules for that week aren't confirmed until tomorrow.

They should've held the final on the Sunday or even the Tuesday. It will be very difficult for them to compete on a Monday night and may deflate the ratings somewhat. But I expect its more a decision to promote Under the Dome.

ITV have struck gold having Davina and Nicky as presenters. Not only are they both more than competent and work well together, but they also have similar backgrounds to what the show is about. There is absolutely no reason to replace them because they wouldn't be able to strike the right combination with anyone else, and the focus is rightly on the people who go on the show anyway.

The competition doesn't look too bad to be honest compared to a typical Monday.

BBC1 showing Death in Paradise repeat, ITV airing The People's Medal.

Doesn't seem too bad then, although it will be strange having the final on a weekday especially as it has felt like such a classic series. For me it's been the best one since 2006, which funnily enough was also the last time that the final beat the launch, something which is a definite possibility to happen this year.

Channel 5 have finally hit their stride with the programme and the ratings are up about 2-300k on last year, hopefully they'll manage to maintain the increase and renewed interest in the show next year.

Do you mean there's a new Peter Kay thing on or do you think they will air a DVD repeat? Peter Kay is definitely the only thing that can deliver for Channel 4 at the moment.

Not too sure about the Top Boy scheduling. It'll be up against Arsenal's Champions League play-off match (1st or 2nd leg to be decided), possibly Celtic's play-off and New Tricks; and these will rate quite well. I think it would be better on Monday's at 9pm, especially with Long Lost Family out of the way.

Good to hear you've enjoyed it. It'll be interesting to see what sort of share the 2nd show will achieve if the BB final scheduling stays as it is.

Cliché but Under the Dome could be anything. Monday nights an interesting choice and looks to be more or less confirmed with a repeat on 5USA scheduled on the Tuesday.

According to provisionals C4 will rebroadcast Top of the Tower on August 23 at 9pm. Last shown on December 14 to an overnight audience of 2.6m (inc. +1). Repeat of a repeat of a repeat or not, it will certainly dent CBB if the schedules stay like this.

DS reporting that Channel 5 may bring back Night Fever:

There are worse ideas. Camp as hell, but damn good fun. Unlike a lot of modern day entertainment shows on Saturday nights.
