All Day Shares for Sunday, August 18:

BBC One: 20.1% (last week: 16.8%)
ITV: 9.0% approx (13.1%)
BBC Two: 6.9% (6.5%)
Channel 4: 5.7% (5.7%)
Channel 5: 4.9% (4.3%)

Adults 16-34 Shares for Sunday, August 18:

BBC One: 10.3% (last week: 9.2%)
Channel 4: 7.2% (6.5%)
Channel 5: 6.6% (5.2%)
BBC Two: 6.0% (4.6%)
ITV: 4.3% approx (11.9%)

Absolutely shocking performance by ITV amongst young adults in particular yesterday, skewing incredibly old. The entire network only scored 10.6% share here.

Last week they had the Community Shield, so it does highlight just how much impact having that live football had and how much they will miss the FA Cup when those rights soon expire.

Shocking for ITV.

Although I guess not many young adults would enjoy twenty or so year old Murder, She Wrote episodes all day would they?

And that is what happens when you put out a old skewing filler at 8pm and old skewing drama. tbh i doubt theey are going to be that bothered considering The X Factor is just around the corner and other young skewing programmes.

Broadcast reports today that BT's first Premier League fixture (on Saturday) beat ESPN's first Premier League fixture in 2009 by around 100,000, despite a much less attractive viewing slot:

Quote:
“Premier League Live (BT Sport 1) 11.30am-3pm
447k (5%)

BT’s first high-profile match came hot on the heels of the company completing a carriage deal with Virgin Media.

The agreement opened BT Sport up to a total potential audience of 3m and helped Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Stoke to a peak of 764k (7.72%) viewers over the five-minute period from 2.30pm.

It was easily the station’s biggest audience since launching on 1 August and topped ESPN’s first Premier League game in 2009, which averaged 359k (2.7%) and peaked with 502k (3.3%).”

ESPN showed 5:30 kick-off Everton v Arsenal won 6-1 by the latter. How times have changed!

(sorry Arsenal fans)

Only 4.7m if you add in the further screening on the ITV1+1 channel.

So it's probably the 11th and 12th primetime screening...

ITV is becoming increasingly irrelevant.

1.6m / 1.8m for Clunes, predictably thumped by AR (5.55m).

Ouch for that Martin Clunes show!

They really could have put a quiz show repeat there, which could have done better. Explains the low all-day share then.

How many more episodes of Tipping Point left? I can see Celebrity Chase getting potentially double that.

Decent enough for Law & Order, Dragon's Den is still pretty stable.

Some good figures there for BBC. Glad Dragon Den kept most of its audience.

Great for The Mill. Consistent all the way through. C4's first hit UK drama since... This is England ?

Southcliffe on the other hand not so successful, but not a disastrous rating.

Really think the BBC should consider permanently switching the running order of their Sunday night shows... Countryfile consistently rates better than Antiques Roadshow nowadays and should probably get the 8pm slot if they want to maximise ratings

Just one more episode - then after that I believe Corrie is taking the 7pm slot for the next two weeks as football is on Friday nights.

I would assume Celebrity Chase returns after that (with X Factor at 8pm).

Looks like X Factor runs from 20:00-21:15 on August 31st. Stepping Out before, and Through the Keyhole after.

Its a bold schedule and there should be a surge for XF with its new judge and new (old) audition style, and both Stepping Out(excellent name) and Through the Keyhole will have enough curiosity value to easily win the night. After all, the Beebs line up is already an unholy combination of seriously damaged and same old, same old.

Looks like Stepping Out only faces I Love My Country, X Factor Break the Safe and part of Casualty, and Through the Keyhole the last part of Casualty and either the news or a comedy repeat.

So nothing really much in the way of competition. it should allow X Factor to launch well, and hopefully hold that audience or increase. Same goes for the other two shows - possibly ITV's most interesting Saturday night schedule for quite a while.

Bold?

A blatant rip off spoiler, a tired and increasingly clapped out singing contest, and a bizarre rehash of a cheap quiz show that was shunted to daytime and thence some minor satellite channel years ago?

Granted it will piss all over BBC1, but bold it is not!

Yes 16 share friendly games + replays is quite a loss (was it ever established who has replay rights from next year?)

Dreadful weekend performance but primetime is boosted exponentially in the coming weeks. Interesting to compare all day share with the likes of XF and Downton added in(probably wont be startling overall figures if daytime still remains poor). The BBC could be in for a tough September though.

I wonder what other old relics ITV could still dust off?

321?

Chain Letters?

Busman's Holiday?

If the old programmes are successful, why not? I suppose being a BBCista you can't help but ridicule the channel that seems to be doing better this year than the rival channel.

Heaven forbid if Stepping Out and Through The Keyhole are successful (although i doubt it), otherwise your post in slagging off ITV might just increase a notch.
