From the BBC News website:

Quote:
“The BBC said it received 378 complaints from viewers over its coverage, including from those who felt too much time was devoted to the story and others who were disappointed at the change in BBC One's schedule for rolling coverage.

"This was a huge story in the UK and abroad - it was a historic event with high audience interest," a BBC spokeswoman said.

"Millions of people tuned in across the day boosting audiences to the News Channel which saw the fourth highest day of the year. It was also the biggest global day and second biggest UK day ever for BBC News online with 19.4m unique browsers globally and 10.8m from the UK."”

Haha, didn't really work out like that did it.

Everyone turned off or over after EastEnders as normal and the BBC announced the news to a nation of no more than 2 or 3 million viewers. Interesting that their peak audience wasn't even at the moment when it was announced

Meanwhile 'nothing to see here' Corrie was watched by its usual audience with 7 million with those viewers finding out about the Royal Baby on ITV.

Cheers for that I thought ITV had gone 'baby' at 8.20 and BBC at 8.30, hence the head start. I still expected BBC One to beat ITV.

I see East Enders have filmed a special scene today involving Dot and to be slotted into tonight's episode to discuss the new Prince.

This is something where they do excel over Corrie and might even win them a few new family Windsor viewers onto the figures.

Riddled with errors, Long Lost Family was not on last night. Do the writers watch TV?”

"Long Lost Family still managed to pull in a big crowd despite the royal arrival, hauling 4.63 million (16.1%) at 9pm"

Where did they conjure that virtual number from??

Very confused by that one - 4.63m is well above what ITV got in the 9pm hour last night. It averaged 3.44m from 9 to 10pm, not tapechecked. The share however is correct.

Maybe it's a bit like the pools panel when football matches are cancelled. Virtual ratings could be used in the ratings prediction game in this instance instead of voiding the programme

Prince Charles says that we will see the Royal Baby 'in a minute'. Hmmm - could be news extensions on the way.

7pm would be nice, if only so we can see what ITV does then!

It's 6.35 apparently - obviously Bradby has had a quiet word to make sure it happens during the ITV News.

One of BBC News Channel's biggest ever peaks tonight I would have thought.

Fiona Bruce said that we could see the sight of the baby leaving hospital on the BBC News Channel - surely they'll switch it to BBC One?

Ooh good idea - but only if I can use my predictions as the starting mark?

The Royal Baby coverage didn't perform brilliantly at all, though neither channel disgraced itself. Channel 5 did well, as did Burton and Taylor on BBC Four.

It does begin in August, according to Radio Times. No snow boost this time, then.

ITV News is in limbo - they don't want to leave the hospital in case they come out at the moment.

Traffic still driving past the hospital - only when the road is closed off, then it will happen soon after that.

I assume Emmerdale will be delayed? No other news been covered on ITV in case the door opens
