Well put it this way it should as it was a big episode. I will be more supprised if EE won.

Sky's take on their entertainment ratings in their results press release this morning, some interesting numbers,
Quote:
“An Idiot Abroad 3 on Sky 1 delivered the highest weekly audience ever in the channel’s history, taking account of live, On Demand and time-shifted viewing.

US acquisitions also performed strongly across the portfolio. Arrow on Sky 1 was the most successful US drama in pay TV history averaging 1.5 million viewers per episode; The Following was the highest-rating series ever on Sky Atlantic; while Elementary has become the highest-rating series ever on Sky Living.

Meanwhile, season 3 of Game of Thrones broke new records for On Demand viewing across all platforms including more than 1 million On Demand downloads through the set-top box and 2.3 million views over Sky Go.

In all, the number of entertainment shows attracting an audience of more than 1 million rose 200% in the last two years to 122.”

Nothing special there then.

What dire 9pm slot ratings!

Wonder if Crimewatch needs a overhaul to make it more relevant, accessible and watchable? No point in it if only 5% of the population is tuning in.

ITV Media on Tour de France

Quote:
“Tour de France 2013 Delivers ITV4′s Highest Sunday Share

The 100th Tour de France drew to a close with a British rider receiving the winner’s yellow jersey for the second year in a row.

Chris Froome’s victory was watched by 1.1 million viewers on Sunday, peaking at 2.2 million as he crossed the line flanked by his team mates. This was the first time the tour has topped a million viewers on ITV4 resulting in the channel having its highest Sunday share ever.

The 70+ hours of live coverage was on par with last year’s average of 0.3m viewers. This is actually a remarkable achievement – due to the fantastic weather we’ve been enjoying, total TV audiences are down compared to last year, so to maintain the same audience is impressive.

Last year was the first time a British rider won the Tour de France and it occurred during the summer of 2012, a period of unparalleled enthusiasm for sport on TV.

In total ITV4’s coverage of the Tour over the past three weeks has reached 8.2 million viewers, which is 14% of the viewing population. The ITV Sport daily podcast also made it to number one in the iTunes Podcast Chart earlier this month – another fantastic achievement.”

I suspect that may be a comfortable victory for Emmerdale versus EastEnders.

So no big rise for Emmerdale then at all...massive shame.

Still, it was boiling, again, here and nothing else seems to be particularly high.

Both episodes of Emmerdale (6.03m/6.39m exc +1) beat EastEnders (5.69m) last night, despite there being no clash.

I have no idea what the situation is with tape-checking, but if Emmerdale is not tape-checked then the gap will be even bigger.

Could be a Who v X Factor clash on the cards.

Yes, Emmerdale will have won by 0.5-1.5million. I'll be surprised if it beats EE by any less than 0.5m or loses to EE.”

How many BBC1 viewers will know criminals though? I think is more done for public outrage than to find who is jumping the counters of post offices in Slough.

Maybe Doctor Who will start at around 6pm? Or will ITV run scared like the BBC did with The Voice of BGT? They would hope that the live shows get off to a good start, so that DW doesn't dent it too much if they do clash.

You didn't read the article, if true, Doctor Who will start bang on 20:00 in the UK and be simulcast around the world. No ifs and buts there.

Soap ratings:

13:15 - Home and Away: 246k (3.4%)
13:45 - Neighbours: 692k (10.3%)
13:45 - Doctors: 1.17m (17.5%)
17:30 - Neighbours: 791k (6.5%)
18:00 - Home and Away: 492k (3.4%)
18:30 - Home and Away: 333k (2.1%)
18:30 - Hollyoaks: 825k (5.2%)
19:00 - Hollyoaks: 581k (3.4%), +1: 139k (0.7%)
19:00 - Emmerdale: 6.03m (35.3%), +1: 184k (0.9%)
19:30 - EastEnders: 5.69m (30.9%), +3: 365k (2.3%)
20:00 - Emmerdale: 6.39m (32.9%), +1: 283k (1.4%)

I suspect, looking at Neighbours rating and share, that we are back to having ratings tape-checked.

Isn't who watches more important than the numbers?

In this region the local news will do a report on a crime if it's to be featured on Crimewatch, presumably to attract local interest and possible witnesses.

Really hoping its true that the massively hyped and plugged Doctor Who 50th anniversary special is up against XFactor. All the pressure will be on Xf to rate well and win comfortably so imagine what will happen if Doctor who wins or dents Xf a lot - there will be loads of bad press coverage for XF and the media questioning whether the show can last much further after being dented by a sci fi drama mainly aimed at kids. The BBC are in a win win position, please show DW after SCD on 23Nov.

So, what will they do with X Factor? Move it earlier to clash with Strictly? By then, it'll probably only be a 90-minute show.

Apart from Hebrides, the only other show to emerge with credit there was The Hotel Inspector. Great rating for a revised repeat.

Why are you surprised ED beat it? It was a big episode and yet personal I feel didn't rate nothing special. Plus EE was back up from Tus wonder if the Sun will publish a new artical stating this.

In that sense it IS quite good then - 700k ahead of EE for the second episode. This would have been an 8-9m in the colder months but I suppose they can't save all the big stories for then. Also when (if ever?) has a non-clash Em been that far ahead of EE? I can't recall it happening.

I thought the second ep would have risen more than it did over the first and I would have expected that to have gained viewers as it went on peaking at the end, but other than that they can't complain at that result when everything is taken into account.

Again why are you surprised ED is a head it was a big episode where as EE was just a normal episode why are people shocked by this.
