The OP is going on the fact the show will start after all the repeats of 'Best & Worst'. August 17th seems about right to me. I think they'll be looking at a finish date of December 15th perhaps, as December 8th looks a bit too early considering the show acts as sort of a lead-up to Xmas.
It finished on the 9th last year - it seems to end a week earlier now so the winner is guaranteed of getting at least a week at number one before the Christmas number one because of the negative publicity of Rage Against The Machine back in 2009. However, James Arthur's winning single was the best-selling so far and would have comfortably been Christmas number one had it been released a week later!

Also, I'm surprised ITV care that much about where the single charts and it baffles me that they wouldn't want to keep the show going an extra week closer to Christmas!

Wow that's low considering they where announcing a new presenter.
It's got to be on its last legs now hasn't it?

Its not good for EE to be below Emmerdale twice in one week tbh and no amount of spin can change this

I sometimes wonder now if the BBC want rid of EE before the next charter review. It seems like they don't give a toss and are investing new money elsewhere.

You did so re read your post. Plus that is a good figure for ED but for a bigger episode I was expecting it to be a little higher.
Right so I'm seriously rereading again....nope, no idea what you're on about. I said I can't remember the last time both Thursday episodes beat EE. Nothing like what you're saying.

Annoying about the tape-checking, would like to know the true figure. Still fantastic regardless.

You said both episodes i thought you where on about last weeks one as I forgot there was two on yestaday. Am sorry I got that wrong and your right fair play to ED winning both.

Blue Peter: 135k (1.1%) - they announced the 36th presenter during this show.
Blue Peter is the sort of programme that does not do well away from the lime-light of BBC1.

This idea of having channels for certain demographics is proving to be mistaken. It actually kills the programmes to be tucked away on CBBC, BBC4 and BBC3

In fairness there's was reasons why EE lost twice to ED you had the Royal baby Tus and then the big episodes yestaday. If they where just normal episodes without interruptions etc then you would have a point. No doubt EE will be back above ED in the officials though.

This week has been a bit calm, compared to last week which was full of so much drama, but all will change after the lie tonight.

Perhaps you are right perhaps you are not.

I am however now of the believe EE is in a full blown crisis and this has been on the cards for at least 12 months.

The longer excuses keep being made and the longer no action is taken to fix the shows deep problems the worse the outcome is going to be.

This decline of EE is exactly the same route we saw Brookside go down. Its just happening slower with EE. Now however its become very obvious things are falling apart.

Is there not a dedicated 'Eastenders in Ratings Crisis Thread' yet ?

It would help to filter out some of the same circular arguments from the same contributors almost daily.

Last night's Emmerdale contained a car crash (which was publicised) followed by Cameron committing his third murder (which wasn't).

We need Mike on here. No one else seems to have it. Weird considering everything else has been released.

EE is in a bad way and that is reflected in the ratings. But I don't think credit should be taken away from Emmerdale here - many people have agreed it's got a lot better since the new producer took over and we've had some great episodes, especially last night. The ratings gap closing is a two way thing of one soap being in a poor state and the other having got a lot better.

It won't be like last night very often, EE will mostly be ahead again I expect, but the gulf in quality is huge which is why this is happening.

According to Twitter. 1.45m for Big Brother. However, I don't think this includes +1. If it does incl +1 then BB did beat Ch4 and BBC2. The ITV news was at 1.58m so very close to it.

Edit- It excludes +1

Great News, Channel 4 have picked up The Returned Season 2!
They will air it shortly after it is broadcast in France, filming begins in early 2014... Considering it originally aired in 2012, thats an awful long wait the poor frenchies have had for season 2

Series of Spiral only happen every 2 years as well, they do things differently in France.

It finished on the 9th last year - it seems to end a week earlier now so the winner is guaranteed of getting at least a week at number one before the Christmas number one because of the negative publicity of Rage Against The Machine back in 2009. Well, the real point of X Factor really is for the run-up to Christmas. They moved it back in 2011 - that's when they started trying to avoid getting the Xmas #1. 2011's winners didn't sell very well so they wouldn't have gotten Xmas #1 anyway, but James Arthur last year may well have. 2010's winner got the Xmas #1, so I don't think the negative publicity has anything to do with it.

If they do push it a week later, I can possibly see the live shows starting on 12th October.

There wont be any cast left if he keeps at it.
