This is quite a surprise! I had it pegged down for Sky Atlantic...
It will be paired with Homeland season 3 in the US, I wonder if Channel 4 will do the same?”

Doubt it. In the US they're shown ad free and the episodes are all different lengths but will fit into a one hour slot.

On C4 the running time changes as they put in three or four ad breaks depending on the episode length, so it would mean the second show having a different start time each week.

So we'll be getting it in non-HD and about a year behind (though by the time we see it, 3 might have gone HD)

I sort of wish Family Guy would move to BBC2

Erm, on ITV(1)? That 2m peak could have easily been 6m on ITV. Pretty clear that the BBC's offerings were dented as a result.

I'll watch it the day after it airs in the US

I expect most of us will!

Still makes that figure last night even more impressive really doesn't it?

That would be decent. Actually it was only 3.5m.

I'd say more 4-5m to be honest. So not that much better than what they went with did (indeed, probably no better than LOUK) and 2m for ITV4 is a better result than 5m on ITV. It also meant they didn't have to disrupt the schedule and disrupt a drama in its second week on air.

Embarassing for Mastermind on Sunday night - a repeat, but up against (the often slated on here) Tipping Point.

Mind you, as has been said already, it's summer, so no big deal there, and the BBC might be disappointed with The White Queen's figures, but not bad for July - might they have been better saving it for Autumn/winter??

Back to Saturday - YFSF ok, but the format is flawed - it would have been better dropping the lowest scoring "celebrity" and replacing them the following week with a new face - that would have injected some variety into it, rather than seeing the same people for weeks on end.

Friday's soap ratings, full slot and including +1:

1 ITV 07:30 PM Coronation Street 6649 39%
2 ITV 08:30 PM Coronation Street 6409 35%
3 ITV 07:00 PM Emmerdale 5291 33%
4 BBC One 08:00 PM EastEnders 5201 30%

The only number that is correct above worryingly is EastEnders...

Don't forget a chunk of the core TG demographic would have been watching the live conclusion to the TdF on "ITV Men & Motors" - 2.1m peak surely dented TG.

I know what I was watching, and it wasn't Jeremy and crew.

But itv4 is the home of uk cycling. If it was on itv it would be simulcast on itv4 anyway - itv aren't going to dumb down the coverage anyway with the gimmicks needed for an itv or bbc1 audience - no gig for Fearne Cotton or Gary Linekar I'm afraid

So you don't want cycling to reach a mainstream audience?

You mean they wouldn't break away from live coverage to interview someone whose job was to pick up litter, like the BBC did at The Open Championship?

I agree, poor share as well.

Where did it all go to so wrong at BBC Sport? Interstingly it looks like the Slater lady may be being eased out. Maybe there will be a shakeup after she departs?

I didn't see that coming for what was, essentially, a fairly average episode. The show's strong run of form looks like continuing into a second week.

That's even about 80k more than one Sunday episode of CBB last August which clashed with Peter Kay on C4.

Because of Kate's labour?

Think we may get an announcement from William either tonight or tomorrow. It took Charles a few hours after William's birth to tell the world that Diana gave birth to a baby boy.

The sport needs to fully clean up its act before that can happen IMO. There's still a lot of cynicism out there about cycling and this event in particular.

That said, it probably would have rated respectably on the ITV main channel. Just not as well as live coverage of the climax of a big British sporting triumph in football, tennis, rugby or even cricket.

Live Ashes Cricket (Sky Sports 2): 807k (7.8%) peak of 1.5m
Cricket on 5: Ashes Highlights (Channel 5): 1.3m (7.3%)

So Homeland season 3 will likely go to Sundays...

Masters of Sex could take The Killings old Wednesday at 9 slot(before it was moved to a later time)...Since Netflix has the rights to season 3, it won't be back on Channel 4.

Depends on the content whether it gets 9 or 10pm, I would think.

Where's the outcry of Netflix 'poaching' a show from FTA TV?

I saw an ad for that last night. Releasing episodes every Monday.

Oh, Netflix. Don't ruin the good thing you've got going by dripfeeding episodes.

I doubt Channel 4 wanted it. The ratings were atrocious.

No it didn't. A notice was put up on the Buckingham Palace eisel the moment it was ready to be announced. The protocol now will be identical to then. Diana's labour lasted 16 hours.
