Wowzer. That's a terrific rating. Was this the one they advertised on ITV during the soaps?

All credit to C4 they're quickly getting their act together now. The whole week has been a big improvement on the previous week. The Mill in particular looks to be a much needed big hit and that could bode extremely well for Southcliffe which launches straight after next week.

It's tiresome that every slight fluctuation with BB is met with "OMG the show is now tanking!" Equivalent episode last year averaged 1.24m (exc. +1) / 1.39m (inc. +1) so comfortably up on that.

Delighted The Mill did well, I really enjoyed it, best costume drama I've seen on TV in a long time, way better than Ripper St or The Village which were both quite disappointing IMO.

We have to see what it gets next week.

Still encouraging for C4 though.

What sort of figure is the Sunday repeat of Luther getting?

Yes this was the drama they plugged during Coronation Street. I've been saying for months that Channel 4 should try drama outside 10pm and look what happened. It rated better than every single 10pm drama so far this year.

The Mill and Southcliffe could be a very depressing two hours of TV though. Good luck everyone!

Interesting how much better the "next 3" are doing as opposed to the "big two" amongst 16-34 year old Adults. ITV1 is doing worse than both Channel 4 and Channel 5 in this demographic on Sunday nights.

BBC1 (8.7%) + ITV (5.8% approx) = 14.5%
BBC2 (7.6%) + C5 (6.7%) + C4 (6.3%) = 20.6%

Doesn't make good reading for ITV at all but their schedule basically sucks if you're under the age of about 50.

It's summer filler that's done so so for ITV. Any other time of the year YFSF would be described as a flop and the tabloids would be rubbishing it. It could return next year, as 3.3.5m is OK, but it's not a must see show and few would comment on its departure. At work, while we still have a reasonable number of TXF followers, I don't YFSF has been mentioned once.

One description of The Mill that I read was that it succeeded in telling a story that The Village failed to do. Ripper Street got better as it went on but how it was up for Best Drama at The BAFTAs I do not know.

Am not say its going to be amazing and it may turn out to be a right dud. But just going of the trailers looks like good fun.

The White Queen is rather stable, as is Top Gear. There is something the latter is doing wrong as it seems to be staying around the 4m mark this series. Good for Law & Order as well.

But I didn't expect a new drama on Channel 4 launch that well, being up against Top Gear and Countryfile. Promotion must have helped it.

Big Brother continued with 1.38m (6.0%) at 9pm (230k/1.4%).

A superb +1 figure for BB, bringing last night to 1.61m including +1. 2nd highest Sunday rating of the series.

BBC Three's new episodes of Family Guy tickled 1.30m (6.8%) at 10pm and 1.06m (6.7%) at 10.30pm.

The Returned- 1.04m incl +1

I think Top Gear's issue this series is that the BBC moved Countryfile to 8pm. I suspect if it was against Antiques Roadshow then Top Gear would be getting a larger audience live on Sunday night. Now, it's picking up viewers on iPlayer and 2nd showing on Monday night. And that 2nd showing on Monday's is soon enough that I find myself watching that rather than recording Sunday's show...

Countryfile has very little change in figures on +7 numbers so was always going to be comfortably ahead on the live viewing...

Top Gear's problem is airing during the summer holidays.

The flagship signature show that epitomises the channel should not go out in broad daylight in high summer.

That said, I did think the caravans piece last night was utterly stupid. They've already done the gag before, and far funnier (one of the all time new TG classics)

Once Upon a Time Continues to be a huge disappointment .. 756k (3.2%) at 8pm (116k/0.5%).

I wonder if they will buy the rights to season 3? I could see SkyOne Snapping it from Channel 5

The Mill really is far better then The Village so hopefully it can hold its audience well... Channel 4 should really advertise it on ITV again at some point this week.

I think it will hold steady enough with 2.5 Inc +1 next Sunday, with Southcliffe getting around 1.5 Million.

just shows the morons that live in this country when Big Brother which should have been sent out to die by now is getting higher than something like The Returned which has been brilliant for it's first season

if it wasn't in French, it would have doubled the audience easily but people aren't cultured enough here and would rather watch trash on Ch5

I think The Returned has exceeded all expectations by managing to stay above 1 million for its entire run...

But I do agree, it deserved alot higher ratings

It's rude to call people morons for what they watch, whatever the programme is. People have different tastes, I know a few people that watch both BB and then The Returned on +1.

I totally agree, i raised this on here before with someone. People will watch what they like, when they like, and to brand all viewers the same derogatory name is very rude and insulting.

I watch Big Brother, but i also like to watch investigative programmes, royal documentaries, CNN, X Factor, Al Jazeera's Listening Post - what does that all say about me.

That you need to get out more and stop watching so much TV?
