They may just get through this spell without C5 nosing ahead and causing embarrassment as although CBB will be arriving on the scene shortly, next month C4 have a few shows lined up which should bring some respite in the form of Gordon Ramsay's new vehicle Hotel Hell, a new series of Alan Carr Chatty Man and some big movie titles including Kick-Ass. On the downside, they also have a new Hilary Devey programme showing: Hilary's Dole Office.
I think though, this real closeness that has developed between the two channels will be maintained for a bit. I don't really see a scenario whereby C4 surge back in front and return to business as usual, nor do I see C5 collapsing completely as soon as CBB comes to an end.”
I think C4 will certainly be ahead of C5 next week, unless C4's daytime completely collapsed. Undercover Boss, Diana's Dresses and 24 Hours in A&E all did well in the 9pm slot, whilst the first two parts of Run got decent shares.
Hotel Hell, as far as I am aware, is a repeat of the American version. No doubt many will compare it to The Hotel Inspector, but it looks good. I'll be watching. As for Chatty Man, it fluctuates between 700k and 1.5m so it's pretty dodgy to guess and Kick Ass might do well, although Scott Pilgrim vs the World rated poorly. Oh yeah and 'I Heart One Direction' (a 'Cutting Edge' doc) is on soon. Awful
September looks promising though. New Grand Designs, Educating Yorkshire, new 8 Out of 10 Cats, a new Jamie Oliver show, Location Location Location, Top Boy.
In regards to Jay Hunt's 'Meet the Controller' session at the Edinburgh Festival, it's being chaired by Boyd Hilton. I fear Jay Hunt may just have got off lightly there.
