Well if he cared about it, do something about it and bloody well win. just because he apparently looks "cute in trunks" doesn't make him a superstar. If he wants to win these events then he needs to train hard like the ones who do win do. And if he did concentrate on his sport instead of trying to be the super celebrity he might not get himself so injured! It's funny how it's always the British who get the injuries isn't it?

Its also worth mentioning Tom Daley has been wasting time filming a reality show for Itv2 which is airing this Autumn. All this is surely bound to impact his training and potential to win the big tournaments like the Worlds and Olympics. It's a pity that celebrity has gone to his head because at the age of 14, he did show lots of potential to be a future multi-World/Olympic champion.

Catchphrase actually did consolidate over 5 million excluding +1, as did Splash (if it overnighted at 5m throughout, despite falling just below once).

Traditionally, ITV have done better in the light entertainment department, you can't deny that - when was the last time the BBC had 60% shares for a reality show?. BBC have done better in the comedy and sports coverage department, you can't deny that either. ITV seem to have the edge in terms of the soaps at this moment in time, and I think both are tied/similar when it comes to drama & factual.

Will Splash! gain a following for next year? And it had Britain's Brightest on the other side (which just didn't work as a Saturday night show) which was getting 4-5m.

Red or Black dropped millions of viewers during it's first run, then settled at a 2-4m level for it's second series. Splash didn't drop even a million - it may settle at 4m at the very least.

Now you're just making yourself look stupid. Winning a world championship, Olympic medal and consistently winning World Series event medals (including the Edinburgh event this year just after Splash, oop) makes him a superstar, and spending a few hours a week in the off season when he wouldn't be training anyway telling celebrities to jump off the side off the pool is not going to have any impact on his conditioning or propensity for injury. FWIW, David Boudia, Olympic champion & World medallist took the same role as Daley in his countries version of Splash, so he's not the only one to do it.

Why are British cyclists the best in the world? Because they have a rigorous training session 364 days a year. Why are the Chinese divers the worlds best? They have rigorous training sessions 365 days a year. Why do US Athletes always do so well at every tournament? Because they train every single day of their lives. Why do British sports stars come 6th? Because they only train when they need to and like to present TV shows. And no, Daley is not a superstar. He's never "won" anything. Mo Farrah however, now he's a superstar. Ask him about his training! as for David Boudia, you said it yourself. He had already got the World and Olympic Championships. He has achieved it. Daley hasn't and won't.

That isn't ITV's problem though. If this is what he wants to do (and it seems it is) then they will happily oblige. He seemed very excited about Splash, and has already signed up for series 2. Of course they haven't booked celebrities yet because it is only just August, they probably won't start for another month or two yet.

No one said it was ITV's fault.; Of course they're going to want him if he wants to work for them. It's about why Daley doesn't perform as well in competitions as he would like.

No they dont. They take time off. Over training is as bad as undertraining. Read the comments re RVP in pre-season if you dont believe me.

Besides Food Glorious Food, the new shows this year have done much better compared to the previous two with five new shows so far in 2013 averaging shares of 18% or higher. In comparison, last year none of their new shows averaged 18%+ and in 2011 there were 4 (2 of which got cancelled within a series or two). In terms of their remaining new entertainment shows this year: I think Big Star Little Star should rate decently as it is being given the Wednesday 8pm slot - I know FGF tanked there but BSLS sounds like the sort of thing which will attract more of the Corrie lead-in and should hold up okay. Through The Keyhole will probably flop in total numbers but if it skews young enough, it might get another series like how Jonathan Ross keeps getting renewed. Not sure how Stepping Out will fare until more details of its format is revealed.

Tom Daley only spends one day of his time doing non-diving related activities. There was an open letter about that last year in Daily Mail or Evening Standard last year, when he was being slagged off by all and sundry.

Splash is a dire show for my tastes, but did better in the ratings than most expected. Just by being relatively successful for series 1 help series 2 to at least start off with some good will.

Some pretty transparent beefcake/glamour model-esq bookings will probably please the red tops and the Twitter crowd. It wouldn't surprise me if Romeo was asked back again, after pulling out near to the final last time

I'll be happy to see the back of the show tbh, but I won't be crowing about it if and when it flops

OFCOM Communications Market Report 2013 is out - with every single piece of data you could ever want on TV audiences, viewing shares, platforms, programming, revenues earned, amount spent on content etc etc etc.

C4 Racing doing as poor as ever. It seems that the Racing, combined with no Tipping Point, has led to DOND's increase. We all know though that when Tipping Point returns, that will all change.

Last night's ratings were a mixed bag. BBC1 had a solid night with WDYTYA and Celeb Masterchef doing very well. ITV's programme at 8pm was a pleasant surprise, but folded at 9pm. C4 had a mixed night, with 24 Hours in A&E doing well, but the Last Leg was a bit disappointing. Big Brother rated good for Channel 5, but 8pm and 10pm let them down.

Lol yah I noticed this to he says Voice is not a hit then goes onto say the god awful Splash is which in fairness it shockingly was. Yet the Voice did better then that and he refuses to call it a hit.

Of course The Voice is a hit. It's a very strong hit actually, with the last series averaging 6.4m just in the overnights. It might not have matched Britain's Got Talent and might not have hit the heights that were possibly expected of it but to say it isn't a hit is ludicrous as it clearly is.
