You're probably right but I'm not sure they'll do it comfortably - at least in the early weeks.
As of last week, BT Sport had 550,000 orders. Let's say within a few weeks that doubles to 1 million.
To get a peak of audience of 200,000 if they are only in 1m homes would be quite an achievement.
Sky Sports is in 7m homes so it would be equivalent to Sky Sports getting a peak of 1.4m - ie peak audience = 20% of number of homes.
Sky Sports does exceed 1.4m peaks very often for PL games but they didn't do it often for Sat 12.45 PL games. It would generally have required a pretty heavyweight clash for Sky to get above 1.4m at Sat 12.45pm.
If BT Sport does end up going into all VM XL homes then that's a completely different matter - it'll get far more than 200k very easily.
But if it doesn't and it's only in approx 1m homes then 200k is a tough target.
Of course the 1m home estimate could be a long way out - nearly 6m BT broadband homes are eligible to get it for free but who knows how many of these will get it given the equipment requirements. But it could certainly be well over 1m and it will obviously build up over time. I suspect by Christmas they may be in approx 2m homes in total (ie including homes paying the £12) - if so then a 200,000 peak would be comfortable.
