After finding the Oasis material (mentioned on another thread) I had a look round a large market and found a large stall selling new CDs you don't find in mainstream shops.

You may remember those cheap "Top of the Pops" LPs issued by Pickwick International in the 1970s. I thought the company vanished years ago but it is very much alive and re-issuing material that is probably out of copyright or not regarded as commercial by the major labels.

Some of the good stuff :-
Dave Brubeck Quartet - Brubeck Time
Original Soundtrack - "Oh, What A Lovely War!"
Badfinger - Come And Get It
Bob Newhart - The Button Down Mind Of Bob Newhart
Cleo Laine - Stormy Weather
Etta James - At Last
Geordie - Can You Do It
Gerard Hoffnung - Hoffnung At The Oxford Union (I have seen his LPs but not heard them, apparently he died in 1959 and became something of a cult figure)
Joan Baez - Joan Baez
Julie London - Julie Is Her Name & Lonely Girl
Medicine Head - Slip And Slide
Nelson Riddle - Route 66 & Other Great TV Themes
Petula Clark - Pet Sounds, Volume 1 (very early material)
Tom Lehrer - Songs By Tom Lehrer
Michael Flanders And Donald Swann - At The Drop Of A Hat
(I have a copy of this on Parlophone marked "Pressed in Rhodesia" unfortunately smeone left it in the sun and it is too warped to play

and some for those whose tastes are a bit......er - different!
Original Soundtrack - Bonanza - Ponderosa Party Time!
George Mitchell Minstrels - Black And White Minstrel Show
Jimmy Young - Unchained Melody (Yes - the same man who interviewed Margaret Thatcher!)
Original Soundtrack - "Supercar" (Gerry Anderson series)
Pinky & Perky - Pinky & Perky
Various Artists - For Children Everywhere...(songs that were requested time and time again and played by Uncle Mac for children everywhere".
Warren Mitchell - Alf Garnett's Music Hall
Yogi Bear - Yogi Bear

Looking at their catalogue some of this material is so old and dated, I really am surprised there is a demand for it but enough people must want it. I don't know how this company's distribution works but the CDs seem to be sold mainly on market stalls. Some of the master tapes must have been a nightmare to find.

I came across "At Last" (Etta James) in a CD/music store the other day. I hadn't seen it in any stores before so I was quite suprised. There was only one left so it must have been popular, and I haven't found one again since so it was a great bit of luck.
