direct quote

Why isn't Captain Jack in the 50th special? "How do you know what is or is not in the 50th?" Steven jokes, though he says not everyone can be in the special. But he does say: "I've lied my arse off for months - you know nothing, so don't make presumptions." But he does say that there has to be a good story reason to bring back Jack. That's as clear as mud then.

Can't really say I am surprised by that one.

I thought the more interesting part was where it mentions: he has been setting up things for a LONG time that will be resolved in the 50th.

Rule 1 of 'Who': Moffat Lies

e.g. the hyperbole surrounding the anniversary year...

I think even Moffat himself is perplexed that anyone takes alot of his comments seriously. He likes to mess with the fandom in a playful way. Sometimes its funny. But I take anything he says with a mountain of sea salt now and will just wait for the episodes.

Aye, one of the first things Moff 'announced' when he took charge was that there wouldn't be any returning villains in Series 5 - only for the Daleks, Weeping Angels, Silurians, Autons, Sontarans, Cybermen, Sycorax, Hoix, Uvodni, Blowfish, Judoon, Weevils and even originally a plan for Meglos to appear!

The anniversary year that has been brimming with a lot of Who-related activity? Yeah, try again.

Let's hope these things he's been covering up are exciting things as opposed to less exciting things such as the return of the Daleks or the Cybermen (which will probably be in the episode anyway).

To be honest, I get why he lies about this stuff, how crap would the show be if everyone knew exactly what was coming before it was even announced let alone aired.

In a world with internet everywhere and instant communication, the only way to combat spoilers is to leak loads of mis-information and flood the market so to speak, hopefully drown out the truths so no-one believes any of the rumours/spoilers.

Why are the Daleks scared of River?

Hopefully that little moment will be explained too...

Because she's down in history as the person who kills the Doctor - something not even they have ever been able to do. And if she can kill the Doctor, she sure as hell wont have any scruples about killing a Dalek.

Definitely that, but also that she could - it operated on the assumption that all the Doctor's companions are pacifist. Then it realised that this one was the exception.

I don't why Moffat has to get any credit, or any blame, for concealing the truth from the fans. He kind of has to.

It's a bit like the widespread assumption that if you ask an undercover cop if he's a cop, he has to answer truthfully or a subsequent arrest wouldn't be valid. It would completely defeat the point.

Moffat can't give away much, and expecting him to is unrealistic - no matter how hungry we are for new info.

Moffat's bloody exasperating with his lies, damn lies and slightly skewed truths.

On the other hand, he keeps me on my toes and makes me laugh with his blatancy, so I forgive him.

How boring if he told the truth!

I assumed it's cos that once that Dalek checked his database and realised that he was pointing a gun at the Doctor's wife, it knew that if it harmed her, the Doctor would be ever so slightly annoyed.

Well, John Barrowman says he isn't in it and if Captain Jack is then there is another actor playing him. Now I do recall a rumour about a younger Captain Jack some time ago so who knows.

People lie. Billie Piper and David Tennant both said they would not be in it

It was a prototype voice for the Silence.

That or the TARDIS had a severe cold.

To me that just seems like a wild leap of imagination... nothing like that has ever been said in the show has it??

There are The Silents (the species) and The Silence (the cult). The cult, as we know, contains members of all different species, apparently even including humans. And they're the ones dedicated to killing the Doctor. No problem there.
