If you take all the people that we might recognise as 'celebrities' and look at the law of averages, it's not that remarkable. All the same, perhaps the death rate amongst younger celebrities is disproportionately higher due to their lifestyle. All the same, a non-famous young person dying early only makes the headlines if the circumstances of their death are shocking, so I wouldn't want to guess if young celebs are more likely to die earlier than their non-famous peers.

Was Amy Winehouse really a shock? Very sad but not a shock

Do celebs die in threes then? Looks like it.
Amy Winehouse sadly was not a shock and a troubled lady and she was 27 years old which seems to be a dangerous age for singers with drug problems - Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain all died at the age of 27.

The real shock is that someone Pete Doherty is still alive and Shane McGowan managed to outline his collaborators Kirstie McColl and Joe Strummer who were pretty clean living compared to him. Shane McGowan is a genius but also sadly a raging alkie.
