Just because the show was called Dawsons Creek in no way did that mean that the show was suppose to follow the rules and focus it all around Dawson Leery, and just because we are made to assume that he is the main character didnt mean that he was entitled to the girl, it doesnt always work that way.

I think it was brillant the way the producers had made Joey and Dawson so close, i think it gripped the viewers and made them believe they were soulmates destined to be together. However i think that by them being so close was part of why they could never be together, their history was to long. Dawson thought he knew Joey inside out, but as his girlfriend he had no idea what she was about and what she wanted. Where as with Pacey everything was new, different and exciting, which is how relationships are suppose to start and what made Joey and Pacey so very special.

I think it was great how D.C went agaist all the rules of soulmates ending up together because the truth being maybe it happens in the movies but in real life it hardly ever works like that.

I do agree with many who believe that Joey tolok over the show. I personally wish that hadnt happened as there were so many more storylines that they could of developed on with Jack or Jen which would of interested the viewers just as much. However it did happen and we still watched didnt we?! That was because we all still wanted to know "Will they wont they?" "Pacey or Dawson?" we were still hooked on D.C! Thats why were are out there buying it on DVD and reliving it! If we thought it turned out that badly why would we bother?

Joey had feelings for Dawson cos he was her first love, and i think the producers tried to make an emphasis on first loves being important to people. With Joey and Dawson because of their long history and close friendship being each others first love was important to them, but that was mainly cos they cared for each other still, but was it love they felt or merly jus friendship. If it was love then why did they split up in the first place, and for Joey to run straight into the arms or Jack? That cant be love! When Joey actually wanted him back at the start of season 3 if he loved her so much and thought they were meant to be together why did he reject her and push her into the arms of Pacey?

I actually thought that as a character Dawson was selfish. He said that he and Joey were true friends (soulmates even) but he didnt actually want to see her happy only himself. As for him and Pacey they had been friends since they were 5yrs old and he jus rejected him when he found out in Season 3 about him and Joey but still was friends with Joey. After a long friendship he was pretty keen to throw it away for a girl, what kind of friend does that make him?

As for the ending i feel it was was the right one for many reasons i dont agree with it being because of the Josh and Katie sparks. I think it has more to do with the characters being made for each. She went with the love that rightly made her feel ALIVE! Pacey did that to her, like no one else could especially not Dawson! He jus made her feel safe!

See I think the show was supposed to foccuss around him, as he was the main character ir was supposed to be. In 99% of the cases the main character would have got the girl.

Exactly, there history was long therefore they knew what to expect and they knew eachother so well, that they had to end up together.

The show was too predictible with this storyline, and thats what ruined it for me. The fact that they had hated eacother all their lives, argued so many times and then found out they had feelings for eachother just reeks of predictibleness. In real life if you hate someone, you hate them for a reason.

I also think that Paceys chase of Joey was mainly to show Dawson he had "got the girl" and he had beaten Dawson, and he kept rubbing Dawsons nose all the time. After being jelous of Dawsons and Joeys friendship, which he never had thats what motivated his character.

Well, I don't agree with that. Eventually he accepted Pacey and Joey as a couple and remember he let her go sailing with her at the end of Season 3. She hurt him massivly, so she and Pacey were the ones who were very selfish to Dawson and his feelings. They should have told him straight away about their relationship, instead he finds out from Jen which is probobly the worst way.

In the end Dawson let her go and have a life with Pacey which does not make him selfish.

My ideal ending would have been if Joey died, then Dawson went with Jen, Pacey with Andie.

The bottom line is, that I cannot imagine Joey and Paceys relationship lasting at all. They always argued, he would no doubt cheat on her and she would fall into Dawsons arms yet again. The ending does not give the same "forever a couple" feeling that you always feel in Romantic movies and the truth is no one could have loved eachother more than Dawson and Joey and thats what drove them apart but should have made them a couple.

I think this would be mine too. I like the idea of the Jack/Dougie ending I thought that was a well ended charcter if that makes sense????

Sorry James but i dont agree with you at all! Dawson only let her go cos if he didnt he knew she would be with him for the wrong reasons! As well as the fact that he was probably hoping that he got the girl!

As you say in 99% of the cases the main character gets the girl but wasnt it about time that something when agaist thouse typical cliches. You watch a film and know the ending before its even begun but not here!

Just because Joey and Pacey argued didnt mean they didnt like each other, its part of what made they who they were and why they ended up together, Pacey helped to make Joey a stronger person!

And there would be no way that he could cheat on her, not when he loved her more than he loved anyone ever!!

I have to agree with Crazypanda on the Jack and Dougie ending i thought that was brilliant and totally unpredictable!

Amen, I was totally shocked by that. Even though I felt like I should have seen it coming! It was funny though, some light relief amongst all the doom and gloom.

We should have seen it comming as all the way from series one Pacey had made jokes about how Dougie was gay. Then it was true!!! Fantastic ending for those two imo.

26-01-2005
Well, Pacey made the jokes but I always got the impression the point of the jokes was that Doug wasn't really gay. So in a way I was rather surprised that they made him gay for the final eps. But I can't really say it took me by surprise to find him as Jack's boyfriend. I used to follow the official website religiously, and when I saw the first spoilers about the ending (no matter how carefully they were formulated to give as little away as possible) I knew who Jack would end up with.

So I found it rather contrived, really although obviously I wanted Jack to be happy in the end - Jack was the reason I started watching and it irritated me how criminally underused he was all the time.

Well i tried to avoid the spoilers for the last episodes and i managed to for about oh 20 seconds!! lol

I was very glad that Jack had found someone he was happy with. BUT I think it was a terrible waste of his character and the terrific acting skills of Kerr Smith not to have had more storylines for Jack.
When they did give him a couple of great storys he acted his socks off. I remember being moved to tears when Jack was talking to his father about him being gay. Kerr put so much emotion into those lines that you felt for everything that Jack was going through. Also when he was dealing with Andie's illness he once again shone. But then he kinda faded into the background and i think the writers were wrong in not giving him more stroylines as he was obviously more than capable and certainly didnt deserve to be wasted in such a way.

Btw I thought Eddie was gorgeous and a welcomed break from "dawson or pacey..who is it this season ". Shame he wasnt in it more i say!

Yeah Kerr Smith was seriously under used!!! It is a waste of a fab actor because now the post dawson film roles and stuff are going to katie, James and Josh and he is still being ignored!!!!

I dunno...I work in a video store, and he did a film. Cruel Intentions 3. It's terrible. But yeah, he was very underused. And although I didnt like Andie as a character, I think Meredith Monroe was a great actress.
crazypanda
26-01-2005
Agree Meredith was fab!!

I know Kerr has done some movies but none that have been particularly big or good. I mean Katie, Josh and James have all been in loads!!! I think the fact that Kerr only ever had about four lines greatly reduced his chances of getting loads of film offers. Off the top of my head
Katie - Phone Booth, The Gift, Wonderboys, Teaching Miss Tingle, Pieces of April etc.
Josh - The Skulls, Gossip, Cruel Intentions, Shadows in the sun, Cursed etc.
James - Rules of attraction - this one is harder!!!

But you get the idea

Kerr Smith Final Destination great film! Think he had some great parts in both season 2 and season 3 wish they had gone in to more detail with him and his fathers relationship!

Cant say though that i have watched a film with James vanda beek in that was actually any good! Katie Holmes has probably got the best movie deals out of any of them!

I think the whole jack ending up with pacey's brother was slightly funny! We all knew Doug had to be gay but for Jack to end up with him was a big suprise i think that showing more about them getting together mite of been nice! Wonder what Pacey thought of them 2 anyway lol!!!!
crazypanda
28-01-2005
Everyone said Jack and Pacey were great together as friends. Do you remember when they went to that bar together???? Very funny!!! Doug can't have been that different from Pacey after all they were brothers and Gretchen had a very similar sense of humour and said that it was a Witter thing!!! Therefore it follows that doug and Jack probably had a similar chemistry to him and Pacey!!!
Roxybabe
29-01-2005
perhaps so! Me thinks you have a thing for Jack!!! lol

I'm a lesbian and even I can see that Pacey is a helluva lot hotter than Dawson. If I was Katie Holmes er... whatever her name was on the show... Joey? Yeah something like that - I would have gone for Pacey, better looking and at least has a personality (though if possible I would have gone for Katie Holmes er but not if I WAS her if you er see what I mean)
