For me it'd be either Bernard Cribbins (Wilf from Doctor Who) or Len Goodman from Strictly ! Either would be an ideal grandpa, unless they're completely different offscreen.

Sir David Attenborough for me. He'd have loads of interested stories to tell plus he'd encourage you to have an interest in the world round you.

Richard Attenborough so he can regale me with stories from the filming of Jurassic Park.

I always thought that Howard Keel was a perfect grandad role model. A big bear of a man, grey hair and moustache, handsome gentle and quite a singer too, just a shame he isn't with us anymore.

He was in the Oscar and Hammerstein musicals and also in Dallas as Clayton Farlowe.

For materialistic reasons I'd say Sir Alan Sugar! But for cute cuddly grandad types I'd go with Len Goodman, or Sir David Attenborough.

I'd say John Attenborough, because he'd be feeling left out otherwise. But he's no longer with us.

Some lovely examples, above. I might be a bit too old (he's more 'dad' material for my age group) but Brian Blessed. Although his grandkids should wear earmuffs.

There aren't many people around old enough to be my grandad these days!

If I could go back in time, it would always have been Peter Cushing.

Tom Hanks, he's just about old enough to be my grandad Although, considering he's younger than my dad, it seems odd suggesting him!

Definitely Bernard Cribbins for me, he looks like he'd be a right laugh, has a bit of a twinkle in his eye!!

Well my grandad was actually the spitting image of Archie from "All in Family", minus the casual racism and sexism, because although working class he was actually very open minded.
But exactly like the character and when faced with hippie son in laws, university degrees etc etc, I knew that at end of the day he thought we were all of bunch of scatterbrains and he used to be quite sarcastic about us all.

I gave this some thought years ago as I never had a living grandparent.

Peter Falk. No question!
