Do you think they will ever make a Wombles movie like they have done with lots of other childrens characters?

Even when I was a kid I found Wombling Free dull, in fact rather naff, the songs being the only highlight for me and when The Wombles were on screen. Bernard Spear's borderline racist Japanese man is terrible, and we cant understand a word his wife Doris (!) is saying, as her dialogue is left untranslated. When was the last time you came across a Japanese lady called DORIS?!

I have a copy of Wombling Free on DVD and it is as bad as I remembered it to be. I have to agree that it is very dull.

I'm tempted to revisit it for its crapness When I was little I didnt know what the scenes at the start were supposed to represent (Wall Street or whatever)
I'd love to know what Doris is saying, for all we know she could be saying "WTF am I doing here? The cat sat on the mat" or something
I also wondered about her make-up in the dinner scene, my Japanese friend once told me that was rather old fashioned although people do still dress that way for very special occasions (eg, a wedding).

Christ I hope not.... given how the film industry has raped the Smurfs of my childhood, I dont want them anywhere near my beloved Wombles
