For a media project I'm doing over the summer, I've been asked to come up with a television show placed in a specific genre. I had the choice of either creating a show in the 'Drama TV' genre or the 'Reality TV' genre. I've chosen the reality genre, and I'm going to be creating a completely new format for a singing competition. I've chosen to come up with a format for this type of show because I think the competitions out there are pretty much carbon copies of each other with a couple of different gimmicks thrown in. I want to try and change it up a bit.

I'm really stuck with what to name the show

I haven't thought too far into the format, but it's going to be a show that reflects the real music industry. So it will have closed auditions (not in a room like X Factor, more simple than that) and will have stages focused on songwriting. The judging rolls would be filled by industry experts, not artists, so it's also going back to basics a bit. It will have the credibility of the voice in it's focus on songwriting, but will have the fun element of X Factor in the live shows.

I'm going to try and come up with a way the show can have judges and mentors that are in competition with each other. It will keep the element of competitiveness, but wont effect the chemistry of the panel, and will keep the panel unbiased.

The only name I've thought of is 'You're Signed' but...

Any name ideas? You'd be helping me out a lot!

(I've put this in 'The Voice' forum too because I think it's relevant to both, people on both of these forums could probably be the best at coming up with a name haha)

I love the name 'unsigned' and it was something I thought about myself, but I think it's a bit short? Does it really suit a reality tv singing show?

The two that I can think of would be 'Born to Sing' or 'Next Big Thing'.

'Next Big Thing' was another name I had thought of using

Great minds think alike

I like it, but I always think of The X Factor for some reason? Don't they always say 'we're looking for the next best thing'. That's the only let down to using it really.

Edit: I've just searched the name, and there's a disney competition show called Next Big Thing. shame. I could still use it, but would no doubt lose marks.

Well we do have simply The Voice which is pretty short. Plus it can work as long as the acts are unsigned

Yeah you're right

I think the majority of people who go for these shows are unsigned anyway really.

Already quite a long-running US TV show which finished a few years ago!
