Grand Theft Auot V vs Saints Row 4.
Which one are you more excited about?
For me it's got to be Saints Row 4 atm, I'm going pre-order it (which is rare for me).

GTAIV was far too real, whereas Saints Row 3 was far too silly.

For me Saints Row 2, Vice City and San Andreas got the balance between realism/sillyness pretty much spot on.

Looking ahead, Saints Row 4 seems to be carrying on the sillyness which makes it less appealing. GTAV seems to be a pretty cool lookingg game, but then so was GTAIV. R8 will have taken the critism of GTAIV on board, so I hope they do revert back to the Vice/San Andreas rewards system.

Hard to get too excited about either after disappointing last entries.

GTA edges it though.

GTA V for me. Saints Row 3 was just stupidly OTT with the silliness

GTA V, it's going to be a bigger, sunnier, better version of IV, which was quality. I liked IV, even though many didn't.

Watch Dogs looks good too.

What I want to see in the next GTA game:

1 - A decent structure to the early missions which teaches you the gameplay in a fun and interesting way.

2- A more light hearted tone.

3 - Earlier access to decent weapons.

4 - Much less 'real life' elements. These can help build up the character and storyline but they can also be pretty dull.

5 - Ability to cause damage and destruction in a smiliar way to Just Cause 2.

Saints Row 2 > GTA4 > Saints Row 3

The only thing that saved Saints Row 3 was its full campaign co-op, without that it would just have been a silly OTT childish sandbox game and Saints Row 4 seems to have taken that even further. It one of those games that the 18 rating on the box is the age you have to be under to get excited about it.

I enjoyed GTA4, its biggest problem was there were not enough things to do in the world. GTA4 felt like a step backward from San Andreas from what we have seen of GTA5 that seem to have been rectified. I actually liked the level of realism that Rockstar added to GTA4.

I am looking forward to GTA5 more than SR4, Its the first game I have pre-ordered in a long time.

I don't know what they were thinking with SR3. 1 & 2 were fun, funny & just a bit silly. 3 went over the top on the silliness (although I do like running around in the buff waving a 2ft long rubber dildo..... (but enough about my personal life ).
SR4 looks like the beginning of the bridging of the gap between SR and Red Faction.

While GTA IV was polished and slick there was a distinct lack of fun and evironmental variety.
No more annoying phone calls. "Hey, you want to hang out?" "No, I want to go on a killing spree and get my wanted level up as high as possible and see how long I can last."

^^^ This.

To be honest, GTA IV was a great game, with massive replay-ability - but it just felt too ..grim.

Looking at the screens and gameplay snippets from GTA V is making me very excited about the game. I think perhaps the location is a massive help, Vice City and even San Andreas were in sunnier climates and thus, i felt, more upbeat and comedic than any other game in the franchise.

I recently played Saints Row 3, and for the first few hours I enjoyed it and was bemused by it's brashness - i got a little bored of everything being over the top. From the colours, to the voice acting to the physics.

For me, GTA V (hopefully) seems to hit that sweet spot. I can't freakin' wait!

SR3 is currently a free download for playstation plus.
I played it last night for the first time. It is just awful!

I was underwhelmed by GTA IV, but to me it's a far superior game.

So it'll be Los Santos for me in September

I'm more excited for GTAV but the games cover so many different themes that one shouldn't step on the others toes

Saints Row will be over the top silly crazy fun

GTA will probably take a more realistic and satirical look at the world

I'll be getting both games

Have to admit I am interested in neither.

GTA series - don't like the gameplay.
Saints Row - far too gaudy.

Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed are more on my radar. We are due a top notch AC game after AC3.

I pretty much agree with what everyone says. GTA IV was too serious SR3 was too silly. Maybe Rockstar and THQ should get together and make a decent game.
The trouble is that now we have seen it all done it all. GTA was fresh and new once upon a time but now there are so many similar games. Saints Row, Red dead, Seeping Dogs, Mafia, True Crime, Gun, The Godfather, Just Cause, Crackdown, Bully, Infamous, Prototype and last but not least Simpsons: Hit and Run. Maybe we need something fresh. I will say that Red Dead was a change and that's what made it good. I think generally games developers are running out of ideas or not willing to take a chance.

GTA for me, always have loved the series and despite GTA IV not being that great I think GTA V is going to be amazing!

Never liked Saints Row, its too overly silly for me.

I don't think you can compare SR4 with GTA V, they've made so many changes to Saints Row it's looking more like Crackdown or Prototype than a GTA game. It's a shame really, SR2 was buggy but great fun, they went too far with SR3 and have now lost the plot with SR4. I'll still be buying SR4 though, on the PC it'll have full mod support which should open up a lot of possibilities.
