Microsoft have confirmed their games for Xbox One will carry a 49.99 RRP.

Not what I'd call cheap, but certainly not bad, especially as the likes of Amazon will most likely discount anyway.

But not much more expensive than what we have now.

Judging by the online Microsoft Store, at 49.99 they are basically the same price as MS are charging for their big Xbox 360 titles, such as Forza Horizon, Halo 4 and Gears Of War Judgement.

Emphasis on their games of course!

EA have already said they're charging 54.99 RRP.

BTW, 49.99 is pretty much what 9/10 games are now.

Only if you buy from Game or HMV.

I thought all next gen games were going to be 55 so can't complain at 50

LOL. Yeah, good old MS. In their defence, you could argue they are talking as a publisher rather than platform holder I guess, so what other companies charge is up to them. Perhaps their price point will encourage others to come down to their level at least? I know EA said 54.99, but Amazon has Need For Speed Rivals listed at 43.99. (or maybe they just know it's crap)

Only if you buy from Game or HMV.
Well, yeah. I was comparing like-for-like on MS's website where they sell at full RRP as do Game and HMV for the most part. As I said earlier, the likes of Amazon should discount a bit.

Personally, I wouldn't have been shocked if MS had set themselves at 60, so to be honest 50 is good news. Let's see what Sony do.

I remember when the SNES version of Streetfighter 2 was 70, obviously way before the Internet existed properly. 1992, I now feel old.

I got the US import by mail order from an advert in the back of CVG for 50, months before the UK release. Bargain!

Microsoft already confirmed they're not charging any more than they do now for games. The one's I have preorded at Shopto are 44.99 but the third party titles are all more expensive for some reason.

"Not charging more" could have meant anything, as not all games launch at the same price.

They certainly seem to be charging more for their Kinect games, though. 49.99 RRP for Kinect Sports Rivals?? Were the 360 versions that much?? I thought the wavey-hand games were about 30 quid.

I think Neo-Geo games were even dearer but I can't remember the prices.

Because EA are the only ones to announce pricing and they've stated all their games will be 54.99.

Your'e right. I remember seeing Neo Geo games for sale in GamePro mag for around 170+ and Snes imports, either Jap or US cost around 70+ at the time. Back then, some gamer's didn't want to wait for the official Pal games so bought imports instead.

Games already RRP at 54.99 but I've not seen any where charge that. So I don't see what the problem is.

Only a very select few games are 54.99. COD, FIFA are the only regulars and then you have a handful of others.

I am more interested in finding out how much digital downloads are going to cost. Hopefully with the one, they will reverse the pricing.

Physical - 40
Digital - 35

And hopefully I can stick a 4tb usb hard drive to store the games. I currently have over 40, 360 games on my shelf, all worthless. Plus I could do with freeing up some space.

Depends where you shop. When Skyrim came out blockbuster tried claiming that the normal price was 60 and if you reserved it you got 20 quid off I think

Since when did anyone sell at RRP?

Most websites have 49.99 RRP in small lettering, then have it on sale for 39.99 or around that price.

Many retailers sell at RRP and even above. Use Google's shopping search and you will see for yourself. People obviously use these companies otherwise they wouldn't stay in business.

Never understood Digital Download pricing myself. No disc or manual and no box so by rights should be cheaper. And when it comes to physical copies, why are PC games cheaper than console games ?. Iv'e been looking at COD Ghosts and the PC version is the cheapest, same with Watch Dogs

When releasing a game on consoles, publishers must pay a licensing fee of $5 - $10 per copy to the console manufacturer. This is why they are often wiliing to sell consoles at a loss, as they make money back on every single game sold. This is not the case on PC.
