Endlessly.........

We seem to have a problem arisen lately with our Humax. It is cutting before the end of a recording. We have now watched several films/progs . where the end is missing. Grr!

Anyone know the solution?

What model of Humax recorder is it? Are the programs with missing endings on a particular channel?

I had this problem on my 9200 and also on my HDR-Fox-T2, I've always put this down the TV companies broadcasting the start and end codes for the auto stop/start at the wrong times.

In my experience the broadcasters do a pretty good job of getting it right, at least on the main channels. Problems like this are usually cased by incorrect set-up and receiving signals from more than one transmitter. Try my Manual Search instructions and to be doubly sure of correct set-up do a Default Setting before doing the Manual Search.

If you use Accurate Recording, this can be down to the broadcasters getting the signalling wrong. The customised firmware allows you to select which channels can be "trusted" to use AR, and which to use padding.

If you use padding then the problem can be caused by too many recordings needing to start and stop at the same time. Annoyingly it can even happen with two consecutive recordings on the same channel, although at least in that case you can usually find the end of one programme at the start of the recording of the following programme.

As Big-les says, it can also be caused by having the same channel tuned from multiple transmitters.

If it's none of the above then you may have found a new fault case...

In addition to the issues with receiving signals from more than one transmitter there is an issue which affects the Humax SD PVRs causing the loss of programme endings.

If the programme you are recording runs later than it's scheduled time and you also have another consecutive recording set to start at the same scheduled time on another channel and this second recording starts on time or late then the first recording will be terminated at it's scheduled end time and you will miss the end of the first programme to the extent that it overruns it's scheduled end time. If the following programme starts early this neutralises the bug/issue and the first recording continues to completion.

There is an old thread discussing the issue here.
