Yes they would have done. There was a White Paper drawn up in 1944 suggesting some sort of reform of health provision. In the party manifestos of 1945 the Conservative policy for an NHS was close to what we ended up with, the Liberal one not far off it. The Labour one was vague and washy washy with no detail. To suggest that Labour was the only party prepared to bring in such a reform is misleading and erroneous.

I can't think of anyone less interesting to find out about than Paul Hollywood. A poor choice to pick for the return of the new series.

His Granddad was very handsome.
Mine fought in Africa too so it's quite interesting to me. |

I can never make up my mind whether i like Paul or not - there seems to be something very arrogant about him.

Disappointing, the BBC's obsession with WW2 continues.
Can we delve back further than 70 years ? |

Disappointed so far. I really thought they would have traced the Hollywood line back in time

I prefer it if they back alot further. Most of us have relatives who served in both World wars so it not that surprising these celebs do as well or is it just me feeling the series is getting too samey.

I'm World War'ed out. What with my own ancestral connection to Wallasey and other nearby villages on the Wirral, I was hoping they'd have delved more into that. I'm also spoiled by the greater sense of adventure and story telling of the American WDYTYA.

I can't say I'm a big fan of this changed format from the last few series - where they just pick a couple of people from the family tree and tell their stories. I preferred it when they just went back through the generations as far as they could.

Yeah, I thought he wanted to find out about his geneology. This is just him finding out about his grandfather's war experience. I am interested in ww2 but I'm a bit bored with this.

Used to be great, but recent series seem to concentrate more on one relative and their story, even recent and known relatives to the subject. Paul Hollywood knew his grandfather ,so the whole object of the programme about finding out where you come from and who your ancestors were is lost with this format. Very bored so far and missing the old format from the Jeremy Paxman days.
Oh,good the second half is more interesting. |

I think the other featured line up will be a lot more interesting including Jane Seymour, Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid, Frances de la Tour and Mark Gatiss. And maybe even Jerry Hall.
