Not to forget that a lot of men and women who served in WWII just didn't talk about it, then or now PH's grandfather possibly just muttered something about Italy, and changed the subject.

Did you notice then that his grandad had been on the same ship that Spike had? HMS Hood dropped Spike off in Italy.

I have started to think the programme is being lazy when it reverts to an ancestor who was in the war - here's where he fought, he would of been scared being under fire etc...

But what if the relevant ancestor DID fight in the war.

Should it be ignored or glossed over to appeal to those that dislike mention of the war or have no interest in real history. Rewrite their background to appeal to some viewers...

That was HMS Boxer. Hood was at the bottom of the Atlantic by that time.

My wife's father (who I never met) was in Italy. He never spoke of his war service.

I finished watching the repeat of Hollywood's episode merely 20 minutes ago, and the only thing I can remember is the words "Banana Hill". Not a great episode.

Jane Seymour tonight should be a lot more interesting than last week. She has a very interesting family history with her Jewish and Dutch ancestry. Her real name is Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg.

Warsaw looks really depressing. No wonder they all want to come and live here.

Only half watching, bit boring tonight, as others have said just about the last wars. I liked the episode's when they back through the generations as far back as they can.
Hopefully some more interesting stories to come!

Bloody hell, after all that.

Trust Jane to put a positive spin on it, "she picked a beautiful spot."

Not certain if she has dual-nationality but she was born in the UK. I can't see why living in the US should bar anyone from appearing in the series.
