Apparently, Dyer is descended from Edward III - like about 500,000 other people and , quelle surprise, William the Conqueror - like many more, including, erm, Edward III!

The trouble with WDYTYA now is that many people have delved into their own family and found much more interesting stories, but with a bit-part in Chav TV, there is no chance to tell the story.

WDYTYA has now reached a suitably middle level where I think they could possible profile my own ancestry. I wouldn't say I'm famous, but I'm on nodding acquaintance with virtually everyone in our village.
I think I'm related to Dick Turpin (maybe not the Dick Turpin, but I'll find out won't I?).

Cheryl (she's mislaid her surname, it seems), Liz Bonnin and Ricky Tomlinson to follow up to Christmas, then at some point in the new year Ian McKellen, Sophie Raworth, Warwick Davis, Greg Davies and Sunetra Sarker.
I will only be watching his episode as he is a great character.

The thought of that chav and her depressing voice
As for Dyer and the rest... is that the best they could come up with.
Forgot Tomlinson was on, can't stand the person.

Can't see what is wrong with Cheryl's voice, nice Geordie accent. Better than an ex-con with a Scouse accent!

Ex-con? He was framed by a Tory government who opposed strikes.

That's as may be. The fact remains that he was convicted and spent time in prison which is the only qualification. The degree to which you place a negative connotation on it is another matter but the description is irrefutably correct.

And what does this have to do with his subsequent career and appearance on WDYTYA?

In any case, if his and his workmates dodgy convictions are overturned (for which there is petition) then you can rest easy again after piping down.

You do know what the programme is about? You really think if a union man or convict pops up in the tree they're going to just ignore it?

Petition? Yeah, that'll work!

Don't get cocky chum. I know perfectly well what it's about. It doesn't really matter if it is addressed or not, Tomlinson himself is not ashamed of it because he knows it was a politically-motivated conviction.

The point is that some twit above (another one) chose to focus on it as a reason for not watching his particular programme.

You need to put your brain into gear before opening your trap.

Maybe Lundavra can explain what the ex-convict thing has to do with the program.
Why wasn't Cheryl Tweedy's conviction for assault mentioned?

I'd suggest you go back and see the context of this 'ex-con scouser' remark and tangent, before mugging yourself up any further.

I think this amply demonstrates that I don't have anything to learn from you on conduct on a forum! Your application for the forum police is hereby rejected!

I'm not policing you, I'm holding up a mirror so you can see your own folly. What you do about it is your own affair.

The only advice I'd give you is to know what you're talking about before you start making a blockhead of yourself.

It's back next Thursday at 8pm starting with Danny Dyer innit followed by Amanda Holden the following week. He reckons his story is probably the best one ever made.
Some other choice quotes from his interview in the Radio Times:

"I'm a brilliant actor."

"Out of every soap actor I've got the most experience." When Rudolph Walker is a regular on Eastenders, to name but one.

He was not charged with striking, he convicted of "conspiracy to intimidate" but he probably thinks that it is acceptable to intimidate people to prevent them going about their lawful business.

That was in 1973 and more than likely framed. But Cheryl who punched and racially abused an innocent woman .. well say no more.

Ricky has more talent in his little finger than that chav will ever have.

Apart from their accents they are both "ex-con's", why make the differentiation in Ricky Tomlinson's case?

But then in the intervening 40 plus years Ricky Thomlinson has turned his life around and had a very successful career. It is a shame others can't see that and continue to hold what is in reality a minor misdemeanor against them.

He was not charged with striking, he convicted of "conspiracy to intimidate" but he probably thinks that it is acceptable to intimidate people to prevent them going about their lawful business.
However "conspiracy to intimidate" doesn't mean he actually did intimidate anyone.

She was cleared of the racial charge and the sleaziest newspaper on Fleet Street seems to have had something to do with it.

The singer Cheryl Tweedy of Girls Aloud was yesterday cleared of a racially aggravated assault on a nightclub toilet attendant, after a court heard the racism allegation only emerged after the Sunday Mirror became involved in the story.
There were quite a lot of doubts about the case.

Never been particularly impressed with Tomlinson's acting but I tend to avoid anything he is in.

Do you know how many people were charged with that hazy crime during the early Thatcher years? It was a usual trick to remove both picketers and flying picketers. Basically another part of the right-wing attack on LAWFUL striking. Which has risen again since 2008. The way that Tory scum interfered in industrial action was anything but lawful.

If you're too young to remember, it's probably best to say nothing. If you're one of those whiny middle-class people the BBC gets negative soundbites from in train stations during strikes, there's no use talking to you about industrial action.

Quoted myself, is there a straight answer to this?
She set about a toilet attendant FFS, if you're going down this road, I don't know why that got a free pass.

Avoid. Someone needs to put a pin to his head.
Don't you mean 'gun'. That would be preferable, can't stand 'im.
