By the way where does it say Havers cheated on his wife?

What a dreadful article - it's written like a Mills and Boon novel. I don't think we can judge an actor by normal standards, either. NH is a good-looking chap, and must have had women throwing themselves at him ever since he first appeared on tv, so it would be almost impossible for him to be faithful to his wife.

Thought last nights programme was quite boring. Surprised that this is the best they could up with in regards to Nigel's interesting ancestors. Also think that the researchers have got really lazy. It was obvious that once armed with some names all they did was type them into the British Newspaper Archive website and print off the results.

Nigel Havers tonight, wonder what his will be like
Boring as..... He's obviously a complete bore and a bit of a snob. Don't give a monkey's he's posh or not. Pity not everyone on this show could be as sweet as Una Stubbs.

Well you've certainly opened up a can of worms in that thread I'll read through it later, when I get back from the shops.

I meant Polly.

In the original article it said his daughter helped care for Polly, so no resentment there.

I must have been watching another programme, certainly did not find him a bore or snob.

Have to agree with this. It's so easy now to just type names into google, the census, which they made out to be astonishing, is on tap now. They could fit so much more into the hour if they didn't faff around so much

It becomes more apparent with each series that when the person its about goes to meet someone that its like filming an autocue of surprise.
Boring so far. Oh well,Sarah Millican to look forward to.

Was it just me wondering why they kept pronouncing the surname Couch as Cooch - was it a regional pronunciation thing or are you meant to pronounce it like that and I'm just a bit (lot ) ignorant
Couch is a fairly common surname in Cornwall and is invariably pronounced as Cooch.

I got the impression that he wanted to prove not all his relatives were silver spoonies after his debacle on I'm A Celebrity when he came across as a pompous fool.

He evidently asked them to find a couple of ordinary ones to show he can relate to those of us in the street but I don't think he came across quite as convincingly proletarian as he'd hoped. I liked his 94 year old uncle though. He made the programme I thought. Btw, in my own tree my aunty, Miss Baggott, turned up to see the vicar with Mr. Waggot in tow.He told them to stop wasting his time and come back when they were sober - I thought that gave Nigel's Miss Wackit a run for her money. In fact, that's probably his real family name - Nigel Wackit. Actors are forever changing their names!

I didn't think he really found any working class people the guy they spent most time on was a taxi owner who was minted in his day he'd have been seen as high class surely.

Henry Hamblion does seem to have worked his worked his way up to having a largish business, if the online trees are correct then Henry's father was a private soldier.

He certainly would not be considered 'high class', he would be 'trade' - just look at all the snobbishness towards the present day Middleton family for having worked their way up from a humble background.

Her mother was living with her dad for years while he was married and had kids with another woman. I guess that's the 60's for you. lol

Spoke too soon, her Grand parents weren't married either.
This is interesting enough, then again I found Havers one interesting, more as a general history thing rather than his family.

She seems really genuine. I was expecting her to be a bit of a diva.

I expected the same, but I've seen a few things here and there from people who've met her (including on the Showbiz forums here) who say she's very approachable and down-to-earth.

She seems really lovely. Very funny and quite feisty. Very interesting story.

I thought that'd be the case, waiting for the previous spouse(s) to pop their clogs before they could marry.
