I would like some advice please.
I have a Onkyo TX-SR309B 5.1 AV Receiver, quite new, which I bought to power a surround system, for which I mounted ceiling speakers. Due to the shape of the room, this isn't very successful, so am considering buying a soundbar, a JBL SB400 120W Wireless Cinema Soundbar and Subwoofer.
Can anyone tell me if I will be able to utilise the Onkyo with this,or will it be redundant! I am loathe to have purchased this and not use it!
Many thanks

You don't need a soundbar and surround sound, a soundbar will give you improved stereo sound over the TV's internal speakers, and a surround sound system will give you that PLUS surround sound as well.

I realise I don't need both, and will not be using the surround sound speakers, I just wondered if I would be able to utilise my Onkyo with the sound bar somehow, as it is s nice piece of kit.

In what way are the ceiling mounted speakers not very successful?

The sound bar has its own amplifier built in. You won't be able to add the Onkyo amp. If, as you say, it is quite new and you haven't bought the sound bar yet, why not trade the amp in against it?

Forget the soundbar and invest in a decent set of speakers to go with the amp. The Onkyo is a perfectly fine bit of kit and partnering it with a decent set of speakers will blow any soundbar into the weeds.
