Cats - bird or flycatcher - innoculations?
well, my old suki RIP was forever bringing me birds and small mice home - sometimes she'd only been out the door 5 mins
anyhow, I now have Molly and in direct contrast to Suki, she stays in my postage stamp garden and just races round chasing flies, dragon flies and has proven to be very adept at backflips in order to get butterflies![]() she was a rescue cat so I don't know if she's just glad to have a little garden to sit in and while away the hours - my question is that I don't want her to have any injections - apparently they are full of poisons but on the other hand so are insects etc and i'm just confused, I just want to do the best for Molly. |

First of all sorry to hear about Suki.
As far as I know there is a very low incidence of cats reacting badly to vaccinations and since your new cat was rescued she probably has been vaccinated and I would advise that she is given the annual booster. I take it Molly has been spayed and generally female cats don't wander too far therefore I think the annual booster would be adequate protection against the usual diseases. |

Cats live a long time if they are inoculated and you should always inoculate your pets.
It is animal cruelty to neglect an animal. |

I doubt any cattery will take her without up to date inoculations. I'm not sure about the statistics for cats but, as we're finding out now with children, the chances of dying from the disease will almost certainly dwarf the chances of dying from the inoculation.

firstly, suki was rescued and I had her from abou 3mths old, it was when we took her for her first booster she got sick and so I did everything by the book.
molly isn't a rescue as such but we got her off gumtree (controversial I know) the house she was in was tiny and when I got her the estimated age was one. I got her neutered about 3 weeks after I got her and the vet also cut her claws and gave her a welfare check. I just don't fancy her getting injections, I am really terrified of losing her

I understand your concerns but you are putting Molly in more danger of contracting a disease by not having her inoculated, which I'm sure your vet would have told you.
As for the claws it sound as if the poor kitty has not been given the opportunity to use a scratching post or allowed outside to scratch a fence or tree which is the natural way to keep their claws from getting overgrown. |

If you ever want to go on holiday and leave her in a Cattery then you will need to have her vaccinated.
