Schumann's Piano Concerto

Just heard it at the Proms. I always mistake it for Beethoven. It always sounds like Beethoven to me. I've made the mistake a few times.

Yeah, you'll often see it packaged with Beethoven concertos on CDs. I'm sure I've got one somewhere, I spent ages learning the piano concerto (unsuccessfully) when I was 18.

Such a yummy piece, it's one of my favourites actually! i'm lucky to have played in the orchestra a couple of times when it's been performed. who was the soloist at the proms?

Jan Liseicki, bit of a newcomer but I thought he was very good.

Yes he's very young,only 18 I think. He's just come from playing Mozart 20 at Verbier festival. I think he'll have a great career!

Btw anybody who wants to watch performances from verbier festival, go to medici.tv and most of them are there. I'm just listening to Francois Lelux and Lisa Batiashvili play Bach's Concerto for Violin and Oboe, so beautiful!!
