Looks like a re badged Roku LT and I think you have to subscribe to Now TV, but still, bound to shake things up a bit at that price.

yeah you need to get a day pass or movies to get a login account but only pay for the sports bit and the movies bit. the rest should be as per the roku lt.

there sees to be a conception you have to pay £10 per day or subscribe to access the device. I don't think so.... otherwise everyone will just buy a roku lt or a roku XS /2

you need to login to the device to get to it. to get a login you must purchase a day pass or sub to movies ONCE. then after that you can login but if sports and movies expire, then it shouldn't stop you getting to the box. only stop you watching sport and movies. (otherwise we'd be paying a premium for iplayer - which is free on nearly everything)

Look at the link below, not sure if you do have to pay to register, the report suggests not?.
Anyway, for that price have put in an order for one,to play with

The included HDMI cable alone is worth a fair slice of that price,I would have thought

Quite tempted myself, even though I already have a regular Roku!

The screenshots have a Roku channel store.. Will be interesting to see whether Netflix is in the store or not, for example. They also talk about Demand 5, wonder if that'll turn up on the Roku soon as well, seeing as Sky News already has..

It's a "selective" Roku store, so it doesn't include Netflix, and probably never will since Sky are in direct competition.

What you ask about Demand5 is a very good question.

Any chance this could be flashed or reprogrammed to act as an "open" Roku box?

Got my order in, at that price it's easily worth giving it a chance at least. I have other devices for Netflix anyway, so not overly concerned about that restriction.

Thanks for that, it answered an important point which has been nagging me.

I notice from the video there's no breakout cable included for use with older TV sets like there is with the Roku LT.

I like that it uses the older style interface, I'm not much of a fan of the new one that Roku introduced recently.

The XS has Ethernet and USB ports, the Now TV box, like the Roko LT, does not.

Demand 5 can be added to a regular Roku as a private channel. The code is - demand5

Excellent news. Just added it. Hopefully we will see more UK channels available for the Roku.

Sky News appeared on the channel list for Roku devices yesterday as well, so it's not exclusive to Now TV boxes. In fact, nothing is exclusive to the Now box.

The XS also does 1080p, the Now TV box, like the Roko LT, does only 720p.

Digital Spy is not the only review organisation to have made the same error, quite a few tech sites got it wrong as well.

hiya i think one should remember this.. this new box is under a tenner.. the Roku is not..
its not a replacement for one and wont show net flex.love films for obvious reasons.. its also nothing like a apple tv..
But the guy on the 2 x( u tube) video clips was VERY impressed and said for 720p the picture quality was outstanding and loads of freebie apps
.Am still not sure what the AV socket on the now tv box actually does.. ,, THE AUDIO does have stereo/5.1
but seems not to have a optical socket.to get a lead into the all in one home cinema i have

Am still not sure what the AV DOES
It's a composite audio-video output for older TV sets. The Roku LT is supplied with the three-way lead needed to use it but the Sky box isn't. I don't even know if such leads are available separately?

NOW TV Help Section confirms that they are available, users who need them are directed to get in touch with NOW TV to get one. No indication of whether they charge, or what it costs if they do, but you can get them.
