I went to university in Cardiff and have been back quite a few times. It's a great place.

I wouldn't say it's just one big dorm. In Hampshire you have the New Forest, the Solent (where you sit across from the IOW, which is also very charming), and a rich naval history in the city of Portsmouth. I really like Lymington myself. And Cowes on the IOW.

You're right about Devon though.

It only has 2 downsides imo: the exorbitant price of housing and relatively low wages.”

I second that. And London can be reached in about an hour from many parts of it, if you ever feel the need.

Bucks last year, it was all gypsy slave camps and inbreeding.

Now I live in Beds, and it's just inbreeding to worry about....

Lincolnshire, it does have its beauty spots, especially the Lincolnshire Wolds, and many Historical Market Towns ect of which I certainly appreciate but apart from that Lincolnshire doesn't really do it for me.

It's such a big County Dominated by farm land, unless you live near the small handful of populated areas you virtually have nothing to do, it was a great place growing up but now I'm nearing my Mid 20's wanting to be in and amongst the action in life, Lincolnshire doesn't offer that at all.

I've just recently left an active lifestyle in the Armed Forces so I'm not ready for peace and quiet yet and the best place for things going on or things to do in this County is Lincoln, it's a nice City Lincoln to be fair and a Credit to this County, beautiful around the Bailgate area around the Cathedral ect and there's enough Shops, bars cafes and restaurants along with an array of other entertaining activities to cater for most people ect, it's where I live now, it's not as out in the sticks as the rest of the county, as it only takes an hour or so to get to places like Nottingham, Sheffield, Doncaster, Leeds and York, there's also a direct train to London each morning of which take barely 2 hours.

I still might move away for abit down south maybe.

Leicestershire: lots of lovely unspoilt country and country villages, plus nice small towns, including Loughborough, which I live in. A downside, for me, is Leicester itself, which I'm not over-keen on (no offence to any county city-dwellers).

My post town is Hertfordshire, but we are managed by Bedfordshire council so I get the best of both worlds.

Yes, you're right. Hampshire does have some nice bits here and there. I live near the Meon Valley which is lovely. I just find it a very suburban county. Nearly all the old houses and gardens are manicured within an inch of their lives and have a 4x4 parked in the driveway. Villages once occupied by blacksmiths and farm labourers are now stuffed with commuters who race into London along the M3 in their BMWs. There's not really much to do round here, particularly if you don't like shopping. I often wonder what people get up to at the weekend apart from sit in their perfect little houses looking out at their perfect little gardens. Yet many of the larger towns are surprisingly rough and common.

I guess living in Devon for so long, and growing up there, has spoilt other parts of the country for me.

Norfolk. We are a very large country with everything from huge beaches, marshes, heathland, forests. We also don't have motorways. .

We are not densely populated. we have the lovely city of Norwich and literally hundreds of small market towns. We have the Norfolk broads and miles and miles of countryside.

We like to "dew diffrent" and I've never heard an actor yet who can do our accent.

Merseyside. I wouldn't say I love it here, but it's only 20 minutes from Wales and very close to posh Cheshire!

Thanks, you saved me from typing all of that out! It's amazing how Norfolk and Suffolk are never in the debate of the North/South divide. They may mention Lincolnshire for the north, and Essex in the south, but Norfolk and Suffolk are always totally excluded.

It seems that nobody knows about us.Except all the former Londoner's and Eastern Europeans who have taken over some towns.

And Alan Bloody Partridge!

which is kinda like the one I remember from my time in Brasil, it was way back in 1990 mind.

I stayed in Sao Paulo, Iguassu and Rio and enjoyed them all - oh and I went across the border to Paraguay for the day, now that was an eye opener

- Still worth it though. If could move any where in the UK, it would be to the West Country.
