When in the UK, I'm usually in Hampshire - the most glorious countryside in the whole of the UK IMO.

I have to say one thing. You really know how to celebrate Nov 5th. Is it true that the Commercial display is the best, in your opinion.
Cliffe usually has the best tableau and effigies imo, but that's only based on photographic evidence. The Cliffe did the fantastic Bin Laden on the bog a few years ago, and the great one of Clinton as Captain America astride a phallic rocket (the phallic rocket ejaculated great streams of white sparks at a strategic point, the symbolism of which was, astonishingly, lost on many). And afaik, Cliffe are the only lot to use the "depth charge" - a bucket of diesel and petrol mix that is sunk into a hole in the ground and then detonated - which takes a hell of a lot of beating if you like enormous bangs and mushroom clouds of smoke. Comical Square, as they are known by non-members, were excellent but are generally perceived to have been surpassed by Southover now. |

Thanks, you saved me from typing all of that out! It's amazing how Norfolk and Suffolk are never in the debate of the North/South divide. They may mention Lincolnshire for the north, and Essex in the south, but Norfolk and Suffolk are always totally excluded.
It seems that nobody knows about us.Except all the former Londoner's and Eastern Europeans who have taken over some towns. And Alan Bloody Partridge! ![]() |

Cambridgeshire. I like it because parts of it are quite rural, it's nice and easy to drive around, there's pretty good public transport and the city (Cambridge) is amazing. Beautiful buildings, beautiful atmosphere, the only downside is all the students and tourists. But you can't win 'em all!
![]() I have lived in Derbyshire (which I liked because it was rural) and Cornwall (which I liked for all the beaches) but I'd choose to live in Cambridgeshire out of the three, it's so pretty here. Cambridge, as you say is a beautiful city (albeit flat - unlike Norwich). Ely is lovely too. I really like the Fens too. Flat and a real sense of being able to see for miles and miles pn a clear day - I love that. Of course, Norfolk has it's strong points too. The Broads are beautiful. The North Norfolk coast is great. I live in Norwich - and it is indeed a fine city. Yarmouth (although it is often criticised) has its strong points. It has some lovely old buildings and there is ceratinly plenty to keep you occupied there. Thetford is also heaviy criticised - but it is an ancient town which was once the third largest place in the whole of England. It has plenty of fine old buildings and has the wondeful Thetford Forest just outside it too. |

Impossible to say, as you can't go to them all! I'm in Cliffe, but watch from the terrace of the football club, where you can see almost all the aerial displays. The newest society, Southover, has the best I've seen, they're much more creative in use of colour etc and a bit different from most.

Next on the agenda is the Thames Festival fireworks. http://thamesfestival.org Fireworks Show - Mayor's Thames Festival 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RfuuODgIhc |

Cambridgeshire also very happy here, live in a village, but still not far from the hustle and bustle of Cambridge, in fact I work in Cambridge, but also have the market towns around. Originally from Kent so havent ventured to far North
