It was never confirmed (despite the claims of a few people on other forums "hearing from their sources" that there would be a trailer) and it looks unlikely at this point.

Yes. And quite alot of people on this forum told those like me who expressed our discontent to shut up and stop being silly because the BBC had a master plan to release it a few days after Comic Con and hence build the hype even more. They've gone a bit quiet all of a sudden...

Don't pay attention to things people "in the know" claim are going to happen.

It's all bollocks, basically.

Doesn't that include everybody? I doubt there's anyone who thinks there'll never be a trailer.

Anyone is a strong word with Doctor Who fandom.

This whole deal reminds me of the Stanford marshmallow experiment. One trailer now, followed by silence for 3 months. Or a wait now, for more content down the line - with a shorter wait for the actual event.

Does this mean there isn't going to be a 50th anniversary special at all too?

Bumped for The Cowell Factor Schedule clashes and all that. Don't worry, BBC Worldwide have confirmed it will be included on the US release of the Series 8 box set. Holding out hope for the UK set!

There will but it'll be split into two halves, with the first not to broadcast until next January; the press release says Moffatt is extremely excited about being able to capture that back-to-work January audience.

Interesting. I had heard Moffat has decided that the episode will be placed on to one Blu -ray disc, all other copies destroyed, and the one disc to rule them all will be split into fifty pieces and scattered across three continents. The location of the pieces will then be subliminally inserted into American DVD releases of Sherlock season Five. Said Moffat 'We all love Doctor Who. But why should fans get too comfortable? Expecting regular episodes makes the peasants become complacent and spoilt. Why should you just be able to switch on your TV and watch the show? This is our chance to make Doctor Who true event television in a multimedia age and also gives us a chance to capture that all important multi millionaire treasure hunter market. Rest assured you will be getting less..i mean more...pieces of Doctor Who probably than ever before. Or maybe not'

It would be morally offensive if the Americans had to watch it the the afternoon, so the BBC will be showing it at 1am on BBC4.
It will then be released along with the 2013 Christmas special on DVD as a US exclusive in January.

It's just a trailer people.....

A trailer that you already knew the content of about 20 minutes before you found out it wasn't going to be released here....

Get over it....

It's more than likely that a couple of scenes will feature in the beeb's general autumn schedule trailers which normally start appearing towards the end of August but I'd be surprised if a fully fledged anniversary trailer was shown so far in advance....the show does admittedly have precedent with the original brief trailer for the 2005 return being shown months in advance of the broadcast of 'Rose' but from a PR perspective I imagine they are gearing up first for the 12th Dr announcement.
