She obviously sees it as a sign of weakness but it may turn out to be the cause of her weakness. Everyone needs an outlet and if she is holding back her emotions it will affect her in some other way
Perhaps it's just the way she was brought up? It seems important to Hazel to not show any sign of weakness, I can see that as something that was instilled in her. Or perhaps that's just how she is..
People seem to be conditioned to soap opera over-acting. Hazel tonight ran the full gamut of emotions from struggling to contain her emotions after the letter to being angry but restrained with foot in mouth to having a ball in the garden in the rain. She's ACTUALLY real. Unlike the ice queen bitch on the bench.
Hazel is very much a "I'll die before anyone makes me cry" sort of person. It's not wrong, it's simply her emotional makeup and she obviously derives a lot of her strength from it. Unfortunately a lot of people are demanding some sort of emotional catharsis from her and she is just not willing to provide it.
I felt sorry for Joe being snapped at... He just cared enough to see if she was ok, and snapping at him wasn't enough she also then had to bitch about him, as if asking if someone is ok is a really bad thing to do? I don't understand her..
