And when he commented that Hazel may be feeling vulnerable so now was a good time to reach out to her. Shudder!
As if Hazel even at her weakest would give him the time of day! He really dies overestimate himself of underestimate others at time. But with more practice he could gather some right Charlies.

If Hazel wouldn't give him the time of day because she thinks he's beneath her, that's not nice of her but wanting to reach out to someone doesn't necessarily have to mean in a sexual way. I admit it comes across as pretentious from him but I think that's just because he's socially awkward and trying too hard but I don't think he's trying to 'pull' her.

It's not just that he overestimates himself, it's that he works under the delusion that anyone who isn't manic is in need of "a good talk". Living with him has to be hell, any time you're not smiling he's right on your elbow, trying to schedule a chat.
I liked him before Jackie etc were shown his vt. After that he became too desperate to redeem himself and be liked which has turned him into some strange individual who wants to 'listen' to everyone and put the world to rights. I feel sorry for him and think things might have been very different had that vt not been shown.

And suffers from the delusion that many self-help dependent people do, since it works for him, he must push it on everyone else like a religion. Most people go through a short phase of it, exactly the same as finding a new religion. Unless he "discovered" self-help groups right before he went in the house, he seems to be the fanatical type who stays in that phase...in other words, he needs a self-help group for getting over self-help addiction.
If things had been different and he had been more accepted by the group, I think his social awkwardness would have been OK.
As it is, he feels on the outside, so he cannot relax and act naturally. Instead talks therapyspeak the whole time in the hope of ingratiating himself.
I actually know two guys who are a lot like Callum. The way they talk, sort of things they come out with, their mannerisms, all of it with the exception of the way they look. One is a lot better with women too, but that doesn't seem to be a very difficult thing.

If he lets it, going on BB could ruin his life.”
yes, I feel sorry for him too... but having just sat through 2hours of last night's LF.... ARRRGHHH
When he was reading Sam's letter and he got to the bit where he (Callum) was mentioned he milked it for ages ! It was cringe-comedy-gold , like something out of The Office or a Steve Coogan bit .

Because in Callum's world, everything is really about him and his "wisdom" solving the world's problems. To finally get the recognition he clearly deserves and has been so denied must have been orgasmic for him.
