If so I would appreciate any knowledgeable comments.

IS there any reason why I am finding DS quite unstable on IE. It will run fine for a bit then for no apparent reason freezes or hangs. I have to reboot to get it started again.

I can connect to DS absolutely fine on chrome. I have it open in both applications right now. IE is hanging, chrome absolutely A OK.

Doesn't happen with other web pages that I have noticed.

Honest answer? Because it's IE. It's horrible code which is incompatible with most web-based programming being done these days. More than likely it's hanging on some random button or ad or linked image that isn't formatted correctly for it. Standard practice these days is that you have to do things twice - once in a way that works for everything else, then again with a slight change that makes it work in IE, and even then, some things just won't work.

ETA: if your heart is set on using IE, try disabling javascript under the tools menu, and if that doesn't work, you can disable the style sheet (css). It will make the page look wonky, but it should load the basics.

Use Firefox, it's a zillion times better than Internet Explorer. IE is crap.

Why are you using IE in the first place, its the most basic of all browsers, if you're looking for decent web browser than stick to Chrome or firefox

Concur with the above.

Blimey a consencus on DS who would have thought it?

Seriously though thank you all and its a very good question about why IE.

Not a very good answer I am afraid; habit, familiarity with tool bars etc. I usually use DS in chrome to avoid the aforementioned problem. I switched to IE to save a thread I don't know how to do that from chrome. And this is because I am too lazy I suppose to have investigated it properly.

On my task list for tomorrow. But I am obliged to you all,

Internet Explorer is the worst of browsers - use Firefox or Chrome.

This is all Netscape Navigator's fault, ya know. If it was still in use, things would still be entertaining.

Well it's behaviour can be quite vile. As you've found out.

Safari(s) I can tell that's a blatant lie and a manipulation of the facts!

Let's be fair. It's a double standard. You can't expect the older browsers to act like the younger ones and still be themselves.

There is no excuse. Age is no excuse in fact it's even more vile when it's the older browsers. With their experience and all, I expect better. Not worse.

Only thing I can suggest is to try clearing your crash, going into private browsing mode (if ie has one) would be a good test of this without having to clear your cache.

Could also be extensions and add-ons or whatever stuff you can add to your browser.

I am using Firefox but I find chrome works better for some stuff (could be different extensions).

It could be the browser you use the most builds up the most 'junk' ie cookie and cookie advert databases.
