Is anyone else like me when they tune in to watch Bit on the Side? I love the show when Emma takes it; you can tell she's a fan and she commands the audience and the panelists with ease and seamlessly moves from one section to another with natural segways.
Contrast this with AJ and Rylan. Now before anyone gets on my back, I want to say that I recognise that both of them are amateurs and at the outset I wished the both well as they were clearly in need of experience. I had supported Rylan in X Factor and in Celebrity BB - he is a lovely person.
BUT...
I am really not enjoying the amateurish displays these presenters show when they take the reins on this show. AJ seems to think that it's all about her: she cuts in when anyone wants to talk in the audience, on the panel and especially on those people who are paying to wait on the line. She asks glib questions that are clearly written for her, or if not, questions a child could have come up with. She shows no real interest in the show and does not seem concerned with anything any of the guests have to say. She yaks on and on with crap only for her to announce that they've run out of time when someone on the panel gets a chance to talk about something interesting.
Rylan on the other hand has done far better than AJ but that's not saying much! This is his first paid T.V. role and he is clearly interested in the show but he needs to be shown how to position himself for the camera when talking to the audience and not to turn away and share jokes we can barely hear with the studio audience. He needs to remember that the audience he is talking to is us at home!
Both of them need to stop butting in and asking silly questions and realise that the show is NOT about them - it is about the BB show and the panelists and guests.
Iain Lee has been missed on our screens for many years since the 11 o'clock Show - but now it's become apparent why. He's rude and conceited and shows little regard for the viewers or fans. The way he spoke to someone who was on the phone trying to read out a poem they had written was disgraceful: "Everyone knows poetry's always been shit!".
I'm delighted to see Emma when she hosts the show and I'm sure the viewers are. Because she hosts the eviction outside, she can never take the show on Fridays so they are ALWAYS destined to be poor. It's getting to a point now where, even as an avid fan, I'm considering only tuning in when she's on. Seasoned presenters who are out of work must be thinking, "what do I have to do?!" when they watch these annoying amateurs.
What do you all think?
My favourite presenter to replace them as a suggestion would be Gaby Roslin.
