Give him a chance guys. They plan storylines like, urm, farrr in advance. I know this as someone on here said it once. We are still seeing Kirkwood's work! I'm sure when we eventually catch up, it'll be worth it...

Coming to think of it.
What has DTC done to improve the show? Alfie & Kat are still in it stinking up the place, Kim Fox-Hubbard is still making sporadic appearances due to Tameka Empson's pregnancy and now we learn Jacqueline Jossa is pregnant so she'll be off too for roughly a year, if Jacqueline Jossa decides to return. I mean, he may as well bring back Kirkwood and get it over with. |

He's runing EE
I thought Newman's era was bad but this is diabolical. There really is no way for the show now. I had high hopes for DTC in the beginning ![]() ![]() ![]() Hopefully now kate hardwood has left bbc they will let EE be more gritty again, or replace treadwell collins! All the show has to do is come up with storylines like 1985-2010, it really isn't hard at all! My 7 year old sister could probably do it! Take the who shot phil storyline, who killed archie mitchell, mark fowlers HIV, dirty dens demise, staceys bipolar, kat and zoe, ronnie and danielle! Stories like this are not hard to come up with, it can easily be done! I'm willing to forget about this woeful summer IF the autumn/Christmas/winter/30th are good! If not, dtc can F off! The autumn does look good though! I hope Sonia, stacey, sharon, whitney, carol, shirley, ronnie & roxy, dot, ian and jane, Masood, max, kat and alfie, dot, nick, billy, Patrick, Denise are all given meaty storylines! Because their the characTers who deserve them more than anyone really! Also, some episodes it doesn't feel like EastEnders at all, which is a real shame! It possibly is still the bbc flagship show but not entirely like it used to be... Dtc is better than newman and possibly better than kirkwood but that doesn't make him a brilliant producer, I've praised him a lot in the past but he's starting to let everyone down now! Let's hope the autumn is good! Pre 2010 EastEnders (when the show got high figures practically every episode) plsplspls! |

God I can hear it/read it now Alex lamb is story producer (I think) and has had a year to come up with meaty storylines! November-May were great, not because of storylines but because of CHANGE! Now we've had change it's important for storylines to take place, we want to see big, clever, nation gripping drama like 1985-2010/2011 but instead were seeing the Lucy story not being developed at all, a man who can't swim, a silly drug story, and endless carter rubbish! I hope the autumn / 2015 onwards can be better! (Still not as bad as corrie which is an abomination now) |

I've found DTC disappointing. He has stubbornly refused to learn from past EP's mistakes. Viewers weren't happy with the arrival of Branning after Branning and their dominance of storylines so DTC does the same with the Carters. Retconning is generally not well received. We are now expected to believe that for years Shirley has been pining for a child she never mentioned, not even when she lost George after Heather's murder which should have sparked memories of losing Mick. What is worse is that a storyline about the murder of a young woman who was born and raised on the square is limping along. Jay burning a beanie is hardly gripping stuff.

I wonder if we just expected too much from DTC. He is a good producer and he has improved the show but he has also introduced some slap stick elements I'm really not keen on and had Newman done them people would be fuming but DTC seems to get a free pass. The Branning dominance has just been replaced by Carter dominance and controversially I'm going to say I preferred the Brannings. I like the Carters but there is too many that are just not needed. Whereas when the Branning's started out in 2006/2007 they were eased in slowly which got audiences to love them hence that 15 million Xmas day rating the family got the soap. I can't see the Carter's achieving anything like that. The Tanya/Sean thing was also much better than this Linda/Dean thing.
He certainly isn't as good as Santer but he is better than Kirkwood and Newman. I'm looking forward to the autumn. All the A List cast will be back in play by then so it should hopefully make all the difference. At the moment the show does feel a bit stuck in the mud. |

He's going a decent job as producer but he needs to stop overusing the Carters.
In the autumn, Ronnie and Stacey will be back permanently and I believe they will be at the thick of things. Kat should get more screentime. Jane is back soon. The Masoods' big storyline will start soon. We have the Cottons' story.. Phil and Sharon's wedding/aftemath. And finally the Carters. We need less Carters' screentime and more screentime for other characters. |
