She was quite fair to them both when diffusing the argument.
I think Gina could have taken Charlie's side easily, but she was commending Charlie for sticking to what she believes rather than taking the easy route.

Yes, Gina as Kofi Anan does not fit the image the producers want to portray .
It's interesting the way the story was spun... as an example of Charlie suffering from foot in mouth disease. There was another possible angle there that they actually spun against.... that Hazel is a liar and she continually bitches about Charlie behind her back, this time she got caught out. Charlie said it was the fourth time she'd accidentally overheard Hazel badmouthing her, but this valuable snippet was left on the cutting room floor. I wonder if Hazel is related to Conor's uncle in the editing room lol ?

IMO it's down to pure jealousy! You can makes excuses wrap it Up the way you want it but the bitterness vile hatred of hazel is just simple jealousy! IMO the viewers relate to the average looking gina so they dont see gina as a threat but hazel its always good to hate on the goodlooking woman, women are always nasty to better looking women & people can relate to ginas obsession with hazel excusing all her hatred away as gina just being real
