Soaps on Location - The definitive guide to Soap filming Locations
This brand new thread takes the soaps on Location.
Basically whenever a soap heads out on the road to film i will be tracking down the locations and posting them here you to take a look yourselves! Past Present or Future. If you have any requests and would like to know were certain scenes have been filmed over the years i will be only too happy to help. so either Inbox me or post your requests here. Ok lets start Emmerdale Gennie Crash http://i41.tinypic.com/2u46ann.jpg The chase and the crash were filmed on Olivers Mount in southern Scarborough. The first picture shows the location of the mount. The second picture i have circled the bend on which the car careered out of control and down the cliff. The 2 Street view pictures show the image of the bend and a view from Weaponess Lane looking up and you can clearly see the steep Ravine were Poor Gennie Crashed to death. Phil and Karl Crash http://i42.tinypic.com/24ot25s.jpg Filmed yesterday on the banks of the Thames very close to the Millennium dome Im thinking a lot of the budget went on the location and the helicopter flight. The crash happens heading North on Tunnel Ave |

Onto some iconic locations
Emmerdale village http://i39.tinypic.com/30bjn6g.jpg Producers moved production from the village of Esholt to a specially built Village set on the Harewood House estate in the late 90's. You can see if you go there on google maps there is a street view (picture 3) and you can take a tour of the village yourself |

Very useful. Thanks, Tilly.
Some pics of Roy and Hayley's forthcoming holiday location might be nice. |

Cameron Climactic scenes
http://i44.tinypic.com/2dr9p9i.jpg Emmerdale are heading about 15 miles north west of Skipton to Malham Cove to film a massive stunt sequence and a dramatic Clifftop showdown between Killer Cameron, Chas and Debbie! The scenes being filmed will be amongst the shows most dangerous ever filmed. If you check out picture 3 you will see two tiny figures dwarfed by the enormous cliff! The 260 foot cliff top was seen in Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1. |

Good thread, I find this sort of stuff interesting.
I've always wondered where the railway bridge Brendan Brady and Walker had their final showdown when Walker got hit by the train was. There was a big old factory in the background which had a sign I couldn't quite make out. I did try to find out where it was without success. |

I love how backstreet knicker stitchers or hairdressers manage to get married in sprawling Cheshire country estates.

I lazily assumed that Emmerdale had filmed the car crash scenes at the YTV access road at Weardley 'cos it looks exactly the same but no, great piece of info. Thanks for the share!
I hate to admit it as an exiled Manc, but Emmerdale have access to some stunning countryside in Yorkshire. One minor niggle: since they moved internal sets from the YTV Production Centre on Burley Road in Leeds across the road to ITV Studios you don't get nearly as much access to the cast as the main ITV Studios are all fenced in an security heavy. Gone are the days of clocking them all larking about in that little car park. Boo! |

Hi,Tilly.
I was watching the first ever episode of Emmerdale Farm the other day on youtube, and I'm wondering if the house the Sugdens lived in is the same house that the Dingles now live in? It looked exactly the same and, bearing in mind it's now filmed on a set and not in the original real village, have they rebuilt this house on set to look exactly the same ( they haven't bothered with exact recreation of any other buildings. Even the Woolpack is now slightly risen up looking down on the village when it wasn't before) Is it even meant to be the same house or is it just a coincidence that it looks so much like it? |

With the Gennie crash scenes they were very good with the angles and not showing too much of the racetrack that Oliver's Mount is famous for although they did select one of the easier corners to film on where there aren't many markings etc

Emmerdale
Lets go all the way back to 11th May 1999 Graham Clarke murders Rachel Hughes by pushing her off a cliff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqlvo0MeKXI Emmerdale headed to a place called Brimham Rocks just north of Harrogate for the Dramatic scenes. The 50 feet 'Cracked Buttress' is the cliff were poor rachel met her maker. http://i43.tinypic.com/30kgbht.jpg 9 months Later Graham tried to Kill kathy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-GPWth1_aU This time Emmerdale headed up to Flamborough head to 'Little Thornwick Bay' http://i40.tinypic.com/2hpoco8.jpg The stunt team used a air cannon to fire Grahams car off the cliff edge. |

In september last year EasEnders crews headed to Keynsham just south of Bristol to film Lauren and Joeys Dramatic crash
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0w64GgP7vI Location http://i43.tinypic.com/o7myqp.jpg The crash was filmed at an old Peacocks store on Temple street. The car careered out of control on rock Road and ploughed through the Shop window. A massive explosion rocked the building soon after. EastEnders got permission to film the stunt here because the shopping area was due for demolition |

No need to worry about Corrie. Any outdoor scene in the country will be filmed at Heaton Park. Anything else, either Manchester, Prestwich or Bury.
