Hi! All
I have the following question a regarding digital dj set ups as follows:.

1: Say you have a set up with software and mixer connected to a laptop - yes I know you can obviously use your iTunes music but as for a connection to the internet and do you always need to be connected to the internet or once you have put your music over to the software can you just use it this way?.

It is just that I did have an Ion as well as before that another make beginning with N of digital software one which was a dj mouse and the Ion came with a mixer, then as I will be moving elsewhere at some point at which I do not know if I will have a wifi connection I saw and purchased a much larger dj console in Argos onto which you can dock your Ipod as well as use an MP3 player and it has two decks.

But it is just a bit on the big side so is there anything smaller I can purchase with which I can mix music from two Ipods together?.

I look forward to your replies.

Thanks in advance.

Jeez, your question is a bit of a jumbled up mess. Untangling it, I think you asked....

Q1) Do I have to be connected to the internet to use some (unspecified) DJ software?

Q2) Is there a smaller console than the one (once again, unspecified) I bought from Argos?

Presuming these are actually your questions, then my answers would be...

A1) That depends on the software. If you told us what it was, and provided a link to the makers web site, then we could perhaps be more helpful. But as it stands the answer could be yes/no/maybe until you tell us what you've actually got.

A2) Well, there may be something smaller. But since we aren't mind readers and you haven't provided a link to what you have then how do you expect us to help??

It's back to you now

Yes, rather vague - but for point one you wouldn't use the Internet, you'd simply store all your files on the laptop - trying to stream all your music for a disco from the Internet would be a serious recipe for disaster.

I seriously doubt this is for anything approaching semi-pro paid-for gigs. I mean, he bought a mixer from Argos for goodness sake!! lol.

Also notice, there's no mention of an amp (or mixer amp which is more common now), or speakers or any of the other paraphernalia for a proper gig. The size of the DJ deck really wouldn't be an issue then.

This is home DJ'ing. He may be streaming from spotify, or could be using a Flash program "live". But yes, in reality you'd want locally stored media. But as I said before, my guess is this is home DJ mixing, so let's not set our sights too high
