TalkTalk EPG channel numbers?
I can't seem to find the EPG channel numbers for TalkTalk Plus TV. Do they even have numbers? Because I heard that their 'Boost' channels are received on the same place as their on demand content. And I haven't found any info about the channel numbers on Wikipedia and other sites.

At the moment, the boosts are in the TalkTalk Player, which is accessed either via the On Demand section or the big TalkTalk button on the remote. At present, they don't have numbers. You just scroll down the list until you find the one you want. An update due in the next few days, however, is supposed to put them on the main epg, including channel numbers (rumoured to be in the 400s). They still won't be recordable (you will have to wait until the autumn for that) but they will be easier to find.

![]() Are you sure the update will bring numbers or is that just rumoured? And why is TalkTalk putting them in the 400s anyway? That's bad. It should be either in genre categories like VM and Sky (e.g. 101-199 for A, 300-399 for B etc.) or it should be together in the Freeview EPG with numbers like 59-69, or 90-99. |

Okay thanks for the info.

DMOL designated 400-499 for IP delivered services - so that's the area that BT and TalkTalk have got to play with when it comes to their linear offerings. |

Can I get talk talk channels on Humax youview or would I need to use their own box. I was thinking of having a couple of boosts.

To qualify for the boosts, you have to subscribe to TalkTalk. Simple as that. If you do, you should get the boosts on your Humax box. It is true that TalkTalk now issue their subscribers with Huawei boxes, but they used Humax initially, so I don't see why the boosts could not be added if you take out a contract. Apart from the size of the hard disc (Humax's is bigger) there seems to be very little to choose between the two boxes. The only other significant difference that I know of is that the Huawei box does not have a digital readout on the facia. Instead it has a row of illuminated coloured discs that flicker when it is recording. In terms of performance, they seem to be more or less identical.

The TalkTalk player is incredibly slow to react and it always annoys me that it pointlessly asks me to "click OK to explore TalkTalk Player for free". Just go straight into it and cut the crap.
It's handy to have another recording facility, bit some days I get so annoyed with how slow it is that I feel like going back to my i-Can Easy box, where the EPG loaded instantly. I really couldn't care less about any of the TalkTalk boosts, as it's all either American crap or stuff aimed at children. It's nice to have the Channel 4 player integrated, but the i-Can Easy interface for the iPlayer is far superior. |
