Here are some of them:
855: Gold
856: Comedy Central
857: Watch
859: Fox
889: Nat Geo Wild
890: Animal Planet
937: British Eurosport
938: British Eurosport 2
943: BT Sport 1
etc. etc.

Seriously, BT?

The box of Vision customers has both Freeview channels and BT's linear ones. The main Freeview channels range from 1 to 87 with some extra ones, some HD and adult ones in 100-199, interactive ones from 200-399 and radio from 700-799. And then, all of sudden you get the Vision linear channels from 855 to 890? And then a few sport channels from 937 to 945?

The worst EPG I've ever seen.

They could just simply use the Freeview numbering, for example put some entertainment linear channels between channels 59 to 69, and 90 to 99. Sure, those linear channels are streamed but still that's not a good reason to number them between 855 and 945!

It gets even worse following recent changes to the EPG. The sports channels EPG numbers are now as follows:-

Sky Sports 1, 2 41,42

BT Sports (SD) 1,2 507,508

ESPN 509

BT Sports (HD)1,2 510,511

Eurosport 1,2 943,944

Easily the worst EPG I have encountered.

Haha. Yeah definitely the worst EPG. But lemme correct you, Sky Sports has left DTT (41 and 42 refer to the DTT numbers).

Confusing myself. The euro channels are numbered 937 and 938. The sports channels therefore range from 41 to 938 . No logic at all.

Hey. Thanks for the info. Yes, that makes the EPG even more crazier! BT really need to get their heads up and make is simpler and easier and better.

LCNs 0 and 800 through 999 are reserved for manufacturers use by the DTG's D-Book. Digital UK also allows IP channels to be allocated numbers between 400-499 by the providers. All other LCNs are only available for allocation by Digital UK in accordance with their policy (PDF).

Exactly, why would BT use the 800-999 range? They can just use the 400-499 range. And BT Sport which just launched is located from channels 507 to 511. That again doesn't make any sense. BTW what channel numbers are Sky Sports on?

I've just realised why BT Sport is on 507 and 508 - because its respective DTT channel numbers are 57 and 58, so they're making it easier. Kudos to BT for that but their 800-999 range is just a shambles.

BT YouView, the successor of Vision and now simply called BT TV, now has a new EPG. Finally with some more proper numbers. You can view them on ***********.

The BT and Talktalk numbers are the same, so where both services are showing the same channel on Youview they will have the same number. The old BT Vision could probably do with using these same numbers too. Maybe that will happen in the reshuffle stewM refers to?
