I like Alfie in the Vic. I wouldn't mind Janine owning it though, instead of Phil.

I agree and I would love someone like Denise and Patrick to run the Vic.
I think the Trueman/Foxes would be great in the Vic but I want the Masoods in the vic and before anyone says anything they ain't Muslim anymore so it could work.

Well it might be unpopular here but...

I think Kirsty could be ideal for The Vic. Minus Max of course. Kirsty and Carl running the place together would be different and that is what the place needs imho
I think that might be worth a shot. Maybe move Carl's mother in too and further down the line throw his brother and sister (if he has one) into the mix and its a brand new family that everyones been wanting with no real connections to the square. I don't think Kirsty was ever or will ever really be considered a Branning

I really hope BK doesn't take the easy option of putting Sharon behind the bar either. Her days behind that place are over also IMO.

Agreed.
Whos BK?

David and Sharon would work behind the bar and would be a bit of eastenders history with the wicks and the watts uniting.

Them being Muslim isn't why it wouldn't work. It's because they're awful!

Better still, Kill Alfie off! Shane Richie cannot act! He portrays himself! Alfie's relationship with Roxy is doomed, we all know that and where it's headed, back into the arms of Kat  Reuniting Kat and Alfie for the umpteenth time is the equivalent of giving the show a lethal injection.

Alfie is soon to have no family left on the square either and therefore no reason to stay. How Shane has a cabinet full of awards for best actor I will never comprehend, it's high time he became part of EastEnders history before the show does itself!

I would have David Wicks return and buy it somehow in honour of his dearly departed Mam. He and Carol would be worthy contenders to revive it and inject some depserately needed character back in. Both are stong actors and characters with great potential. I'm amazed that Lindsey Coulson hasn't left the show, she's a marvellous actress, like many others is underused and wasted in the show. Not Bianco and her brood though, leave them where they are.

I never actually imagined Carol as Vic landlady but now that you've said it, David and Carol are definetly my number 1 choice to run Vic. It'd actually be a refreshing change and like you said there both strong actors and characters so it could turn out really well.

At first, I thought Sam Womack should be kept on and her and Roxy run the Vic as before. However, the show and the Vic needs freshening up and new blood, therefore, new owners/managers need to be installed, it's a must. David and Carol have always had a fiery relationship too so installing them in the Vic would have a huge impact and cement Michael French's permanent return to the show.

Really hope they put David & Carol in there. I'd nearly start a campaign for it if i had the time I'd settle for the Ronnie and Roxy of 07 running the pub in the meantime while David is settling back into the square and earning Carol back

If Shane approved of Alfie moving on from The Queen Victoria, and Roxy, I have an idea for him. I'm not sure if it's been mentioned:

Alfie becomes homeless and unemployed.
Not wanting to crawl, Kat convinces them to start from scratch. He isn't sure where his heart lies anymore, so leaves Walford to reevaluate his life. From there, it depends on where he stands with her, and Roxy.

No and as much as I love him, I wouldn't want him too. The Beales are too businesslike for the Vic, they wouldn't be lively and entertaining to watch (although Ian did have several brief stints as a caterer at the Vic)

A big new family headed by a couple with proper screen presence - two big names if necessary (someone like Stephanie Beacham and Ray Winston) and their brood (some brothers and a sister).

I'm imagining a brood like the Roscoes in Hollyoaks, or like when the Slaters first arrived - but with some testosterone added for good measure.

Out of the current cast, maybe Janine buys it and David runs it for her with Carol. I always thought EE missed a trick not having Pat run it once Peg left. I think Pam might have stayed longer as well if given such a central role. In fact, I'm now pissed they killed her off - imagine if Phil sells it to a mystery buyer only for it to be revealed to be Pat and David?!

There's Sharon of course, but with just her and Dennis I don't think there's enough there to sustain the pub.

David and Sharon as business partners would be great...

I also think Sharon and Carol could be friends if the writers invested in it...

I can't see Carol in The Vic. It would be like putting Pauline Fowler in there. It just wouldn't work for the character.

David and Carol's relationship has been retconned. They only had 2 brief flings. One when they were teenagers in which Bianca was conceived and one towards the end of David's first stint when they both broke up with their partners and were lonely. It was never a great love story and I don't buy it for a second.

Definitely time for Alfie to "lose" the pub, which I think he will before the year is out. I don't see him moving Kat back in and Roxy taking her kid and slinking off into the night. Roxy is the manager of the Vic, and will most likely order him out.

Agreed. I said as much in another thread yesterday.

The Vic hasn't worked with Alfie behind it in his recent stint. The same goes for Kat. The magic that they once had is not there anymore.

In fact the Vic has become a non entity in recent years. This used to, and should be the focal point for drama. It's the heart of the show. Even simple scenes like characters interacting in that boozer just don't have the same feel anymore.

The place has become dead.

What that place desperatly needs is fresh blood. We need one or two new faces behind the bar to liven it up and give the place some character. What's more is that they need screen presence and inject the place with good deal of warmth, humour and attitude.

I really hope BK doesn't take the easy option of putting Sharon behind the bar either. Her days behind that place are over also IMO.

I'd personally love a new family to move above the vic and take the place by its helm. A risk yeah but I think that place, and the show on a whole, is in desperate need of one.

lol

Agreed.
I agree with getting Alfie out of the Vic. In fact he should leave the Square altogether. I don't want Sharon in the Vic. Those days are long gone. What I would like to see is a new family in the Vic. A couple with children would be good.
