I think the central part of the show has always been The Vic and because the family living in there at the moment are quite poor, it's one of the many factors why the show is struggling at the moment.

The Moons really aren't the main family anymore. Kat works well, always has and always will but not in The Vic, her scenes with Bianca, of late, have been good. Alfie, meanwhile, needs to go! Leave. Get out. Just "Get outta ma pub!"

I've resurrected this thread purely because I want DTC to see it and realise the majority of the audience hate Alfie in the Vic and we want him out

It would be nice to see a change of scenery for Alfie. I always preferred him running a stall on the market.
Ronnie. Roxy and Sharon can take over the Vic

Sharon should be in the Vic, she's part of the furniture. I did like Ronnie behind the bar too though

Ronnie would be my choice out of the current cast, perhaps with David Wicks? Not sure really.

I'd deffo remove Alfie from the vic but to be fair I'd also like to see Alfie leave, I love Shane and I used to love Alfie but its another character ruined unfortunately - he doesn't do anything noteworthy except pull pints and now strop over Ronnie - give him and several others a decent story line and I may change my mind - Kat I find is suffocated when around him, I much prefer to see Kat interacting with female characters than Alfie some of her best scenes this year have been with Bianca, Whitney and now Ronnie - Alfie needs Kat to shine sadly but he ruins her character so I'd like to see him gone or away from Kat and the pub with a storyline on his own to see if he can shine once more

I've always wanted Ronnie and Roxy to run it together (unless Peggy returns full time).

I actually like Alfie in the Vic.

For me The Vic is a character in it's own right, so the same rules apply as with human characters. It's how they use it, the storylines that it is used for, as well as who it's paired with. I think Alfie provides a great neutral presence running the bar in storylines that don't involve him. He's able to interject with some light humour or exposition, but not dominate the scene ordetract from the story. I think that makes him a really good pairing with the Vic.

I always think that The Vic could become a more communal location though, like it was a good while back. It has improved over the last few years, there was a time when it felt barely used at all, but I personally love it when you've got large scenes in there so I'd always welcome more.

I actually think they need a few other people behind the bar though. I miss Kat in there, and although I quite like Kirsty, I don't think she works behind the bar, she's too introverted, she makes Tracey look lively. I think they need a barman/barwoman in there with a bit of spark.

Ronnie and Roxy running things would be brilliant with Phil still owning it and throwing his weight around, oh them days

Get rid of the awful green paint from the exterior. Bring Peggy back full time as landlady and instill Roxy and Ronnie as barmaids. QV restored.

I'm going to go out on a limb and still insist that David and Carol be installed at the Vic. David is fairly high profile and Carol desperately needs to be brought back to the centre of the show, she is criminally underused. I would like David to somehow buy the Vic in honour of his late mother Pat and he and Carol become the new landlords. Sharon can manage, three major characters front of house would provide plenty of nostalgia for diehards and a new dynamic force behind the bar. Or Roxy and Ronnie to manage if they have to but they would be more suited to the R&R, it's their baby after all. Alfie has to go back to his market stall or leave the square altogether, he's become quite an unbearable and cringeworthy character - send him to the high seas with his fellow goons.

I still prefer Alfie in there and a Kat return would be great at some point, although I do like her on the market stall. I thought Kirsty was great at first, but the old Branning misery hes rubbed off on her and she's destined for a life of misery and drama.

I actually think she's come into her own the past couple of months, she's got a feisty spirit about her that I like. More of that please Mr TC.

Who would you like to see? It desperately needs some nostalgia and familiarity and to be repositioned at the heart of the show. If Sam Womack was to stay then Phil should reappoint Roxy and Ronnie to rule the roost and turf Alfie out on the grounds that he has failed the business. It would be extremely pleasurable to see Alfie not only lose Roxy but also his job to the woman who abducted the child that doesn't even belong to him. The way he has treated Ronnie like some sort of monster since her return is unfair, I would like to see him suffer for making Roxy choose and not accepting that Ronnie has learnt from her mistakes and served her time. Just get him out!

David would make a good landlord with Sharon as Landlady.

Ronnie can work at a revamped club with Janine & Phil.

I agree with this post. If the Mitchells aren't going to be in charge then a new family might fit the bill.

Yes, Sharon and David would work really well too I think. Carol also has to have a role somewhere as she's wasted knocking up fry-ups in the Caff and needs more screen time, a position at the Vic would provide that. She and Sharon would also work well together on screen. I agree with every post of yours regarding Sharon, she needs to mix with established characters that she knows and previously lived and worked alongside. They could have even made Ian and Sharon business partners at the restaurant but they didn't bother. Any opportunity for a nod to the shows history regarding Sharon and her acquaintances is immediately extinguished and not given a second thought

The only reason Alfie is still in the Vic is because Shane will leave if they take Alfie out of it, so I hope DTC puts his foot down. Kat's better without Alfie anyway, turf Shane out, make Kat and the Vic good again.

Is there any actual truth in that or another DS rumour?

Link please. I'm pretty sure that was proved as incorrect.

That's just speculation, people said he grew bored of the show after his character was taken out the Vic.

That doesn't mean he requested to stay in the Vic, it just means once Alfie was taken out he didn't have much to do.
