I think Halle Berry being pregnant, meant that Storm has been very much sidelined for this film (assuming they ever intended her to have a big role in the film)...

Plus, she's kinda movie kryptonite these days.

Given the scope of the movie, even if an extended version (say 3 hours), I doubt very much whether Storm (or any other character) would feature for an extended period of time - and will simply feature within key scenes.

Why so much fuss about Storm I never knew the character was so popular and I'm not talking about the films, I am talking about the actual comics.

In the comics, Storm was the X Men's leader for several long periods, she also had a much more ruthless, determined edge than she's portrayed in the movies. She also had no powers for a while and beat the leader of another team of mutants who had powers in a knife fight when she herself was powerless. Her own powers are much better in the comics in general and she's a lot more independent than she is in the films (no "Storm, why don't you clear this mist" shit). Also in the comics her backstory's a lot more interesting, her parents were killed in a bombing and she grew up as a thief and was later worshipped as a godess in Africa before she joined the X Men after Xavier personally recruited her.

Compared to that, film!Storm while reliable and stern is a bit more of a wet blanket. Comics!Storm is cool. She also has a big rivalry with Emma Frost going on and has strong opinions about a lot of things.

Cyclops was one of my favourites, but Singer destroyed him in the film with terrible casting and lame characterization, bit like Storm.

Yup. Scott's a great character, Singer turned him into a nerd and now people who don't know the comics have that opinion of him burned into their memory.

Storm is a great character, again, not put to great use by Singer. Pluse she had an awesome mohawk in the 80's, which I'm happy to say is back.

In my era of the X-men (1982-1987), she was the leader & she was a prominant character, even more-so when she lost her powers.

The films are destroying iconic comic characters in the X movies. Storm and Cyclops are not who appeared in the comic, Rogue seems to be going the same way. Gutted she has been cut from the new movie.

I enjoyed the first three but hated characters like Angel and Colussus not being utilised. Also stuggled to get into first Class as to me that was Cyclops, Beast, Angel, Marvel Girl and Iceman.

I'll be pretty peeved if Shadowcat doesn't have a big role in OFP as she was key to the storyline in the comic.

You'll be disappointed then. Most of her role went to Wolverine.

There was a piece in either SFX or a film magazine the other month where Ellen Page said she spends most of the film massaging Wolverine's head.

I know that no one's going to stump up $200m on a film with her as the lead, but I hope she's joking a bit (although somehow I doubt it).
